Meeting Notes
Members present (6): Brattesani, Chang, Chiles, Crumley, Hance,
Meizel,
Members absent (3): Evans, Gonzalez, Yamagata
Visitors: Lou Ziskind
1. Called to order at 6:40PM
2. Approved agenda as circulated
3. We reviewed the following projects:
a) Explorit Science Center
request from Jon Bell
Represented by Lou Ziskind, Executive Director
1 Plone Site
Explorit had been invited some months ago to
consider using a
Plone site and recently determined this would be a good direction
for
the organization.
Their May 7th application was approved by the
committee by
email before the meeting in order to expedite the start of the
process.
Lou Ziskind attended to address the committee and
for the
committee to explain some issues and to answer Lou's questions.
Lou
explained that a sizable number of "science content" files would
remain in the shell account but that "program and operations"
files
relevant for a Content Management System would be re-created in
the
Plone site and management of different sections would be assigned
to
specific staff. A program staff person with some Internet
experience
has been given some IT hours to plan and oversee this project..
b) Davis School Arts
Foundation
Request by Gayle Bryner
10 additional MB storage for their shell
After some frustrating efforts by the RAC to locate
a person
in charge of the dsaf website, Anne (the RAC chair) was contacted
by
Gayle Bryner who explained she had heard that the committee was
searching for a dsaf website contact and she was it. Anne
explained
that the problem was that their shell had exceeded its storage
capacity and they needed to remove some files or request
additional
MB. Gayle did both and the committee agreed by consensus to
an
additional 10 MB bringing the dsaf total to 20 MB free of charge.
Jan said she would contact Gayle and explain how to use Telnet to
check on disk usage.
4. Quick Report on recent poll of DCN/RAC resource users.
Anne reported that about 30% of those polled in
March had
responded. Many of the non-responses are believed to be still the
people responsible for the resources authorized for use by their
organizations so it was agreed that a follow-up should go out
soon
just to the non-responders. Anne will use the
DCN-RAC-Projects
Mailman List for this second round (setting responders'
subscriptions
to "no-mail" for this message only.)
5. Wrap up of Simple Sites Review.
We spent the last few minutes of the meeting adding
some
review information from Diane who had been absent at the last
meeting. Input from only one person (RY) is now needed.
We adjourned at 7:50 PM
Next meeting: MONDAY,.June 16, 2008
