Executive Director
Pending the hiring of a new executive director, DCN has contracted with a strategic consultant and has hired an administrative assistant (admin@dcn.org). The Executive Committee and various volunteers have assumed other director responsibilities.
Former Executive Director Richard Lowenberg's Information:
Richard Lowenberg served as DCN Executive Director from Oct.
1996 through Jun. 2006.
In addition to directing DCN, Richard is a media artist, environmental designer, tele-community planner and cultural activist.
From 2000-2004 he served on the Board of the Association for Community Networking afcn.org , and has participated in numerous state, national and international community networking initiatives. He served on the National Research Council: Computer Science and Telecommunications Board’s ‘First Mile Broadband' Committee, which published "Broadband: Bringing Home the Bits" in early 2002.
Richard was a founding Director of the Telluride Institute and its InfoZone Program, in Telluride, CO, from 1984 to 1996; and served on the Board of the Colorado Advanced Technology Institute’s Rural Telecommunications Project; web authored the 1995 US DOC-EDA funded "Rural Telecommunication Investment Guide"; and was a principal on the 1996 NTIA-TIIAP funded "Maps for People" project.
Richard has been an invited speaker, writer and consultant on ‘Tele-Community Development’, “Networked Economics’ and ‘Information Ecology', in the US, Europe, Latin America and Japan.
Richard’s media, performance and installation art works have received major grants and awards and have been exhibited and published internationally over more than thirty years.
