The Annual Wennberg Concert is a spring event in support of the Bodil Wennberg Music Foundation.
The Music Foundation was established in memory of Bodil Wennberg, a Davis music teacher and UCD symphony member, who bequeathed her cello to the Davis schools upon her untimely death in 1994. Dr. Richard Wennberg, her husband, used the sale of the cello and his own personal gift to provided the initial funding for the foundation. The missions of the foundation are to support music program development in the schools, help to integrate music-training resources in our community, and support community efforts, which enrich the cultural soul of Davis. The foundation has funded professional tutoring for student orchestras in elementary, junior and senior high schools, supported unique performances such as the Berloz Requiem and Dallas Brass performances, promoted summer music camps for younger musicians, and facilitated master classes and outreach by UCD presents performers in Davis schools. Bodil Wennberg was dedicated to bringing music into the lives of Children. She taught at home and she volunteered as a music coach in the Davis schools. The annual concert generates additional funds for the foundation.
The 2007 Wennberg Concert will be at the UC Davis Mondavi Center for the Performing Arts, Davis, CA on Saturday, April 28
