REMINDER
- Attention all students with STUDY HALL on their 2nd semester schedule: you MUST attend your Study Hall class during the period in which you are assigned. Study Hall classes are to meet in the MPR. Roll is taken daily and absences will count against your overall attendance. To add something in the place of Study Hall, you must fill out a change request form in the counseling office by today, Friday, February 5.
- There are openings for students who would like to TA over at North Davis elementary school and work with elementary age students. Good attendance is required. See your counselor to add. The open periods are 1,2 and 5.
- This is National Counselor’s Week. Please come by and make an appointment, see what counselors have to offer you.

- The North Davis Volunteering Club meets Tuesday, February 9th at lunch in L-21. Come learn about volunteering in the North Davis Elementary School reading room and sibling club. New members are always welcome! See you there!
- All students interested in AP Art Studio for 2010-2010 must pass the portfolio review scheduled in February. The deadline to submit portfolios is February 18.
- SENIORS: This is the time of year to apply for financial aid! To apply for federal and state financial aid, you need to complete the FAFSA. You can complete the FAFSA online at www.fafsa.ed.gov The FAFSA deadline is March 2. Come to the Scholarship and Financial Aid Office (located next to counseling) for more information.
- Are you looking for something to do this summer? How about an international adventure? Rustic Pathways provides travel programs, language immersion, and community service opportunities for high school students. Those who sign up can find themselves working alongside monks in Cambodia, trekking the summit of Mt. Kilimanjaro in Africa, living in Yak tents in India, or traveling down remote waterways in boats in Burma. A representative from Rustic Pathways will be here on Friday, Feb. 12 at lunch in the large conference room to answer questions about their program. - JUNIORS AND SENIORS: Are you interested in being an intern in state government? Assembly member Mariko Yamada is accepting applications from high school juniors and seniors for volunteer internship positions in the Vacaville district office. Interns will perform "field representative" duties, including helping constituents with problems with state agencies, planning events, press relations, special projects, administrative support, and clerical duties that includes letter writing. Come to the Scholarship and Financial Aid Office (located next to counseling) for more information and an internship application.

- Bank of America is looking for community-minded high school juniors and seniors to participate in their Student Leaders Program. This is a unique opportunity where students with a passion for helping their communities can participate in an 8-week paid summer internship at a local non-profit; attend a six-day, all-expense paid Student Leadership Summit in Washington, D.C.; and learn how nonprofits, government, and business can partner to create a positive impact in our communities. - SENIORS: UC Davis is hosting Financial Aid Awareness Week Feb 8-12. There will be five presentations about UCD financial aid, and two nighttime FAFSA workshops where you can get help completing your FAFSA. This special event is open to all students and parents. - The California State Summer School for the Arts (INNERSPARK) is seeking the most talented high school-aged visual, literary, media and performing artists in California. The students who are selected through the competitive application process will attend one of the country's premier summer arts institutes on the campus of the California institute of the Arts, in Valencia, from July 10- August 6, 2010. The deadline to apply is February 27. For more information about this program, come to the Scholarship and Financial Aid Office (located next to counseling).
- VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY: Davis Firefighters are looking for volunteers to help with their crab feed in the Senior Center on February 20 from 5:00 pm-9:30 pm. Volunteers will help with food prep, set-up, serving, and clean-up. Deadline to sign-up is February 15.
