Davis R.I.S.E. Spring Rummage Sale!
Mark your calendars! On May 17 the Davis R.I.S.E. program and the Farmers’ Market will hold the “Davis RISE Spring Rummage Sale,” a fundraiser to support recycling at our schools and in our community.
As you go about spring cleaning this year, please consider donating unused items such as furniture, appliances, kitchen items, books, CD’s, etc. that someone else might enjoy.
We are especially in need of storage space for these items until May 17.
This is a great way for students and their families to support recycling in Davis, and proceeds will directly benefit students recycling in our schools! For more information or to make a donation, call Carrie Juchau at 530-776-7177, or email carriejuchau@yahoo.com

Changes Ahead: What’s Next?
The DJUSD Board of Trustees at its last meeting made key decisions regarding boundary changes and placement of Valley Oak GATE students next year.
The decision regarding the two Valley Oak GATE stands resulted with one GATE strand at each of these four sites: Korematsu, North Davis, Pioneer and Willett Elementary Schools. Valley Oak GATE students will have an opportunity to request either the GATE program at Korematsu or North Davis Elementary or may choose instead to attend their new neighborhood school.
Families will receive this week letters at their home address regarding students’ new neighborhood school placement. Students will also receive packets in their backpacks containing important registration forms including the “Intent to Return” form and the “Intra-District Transfer” form, which will explain this process should you opt to not attend the new neighborhood school assigned to your address. It is critical that both of these forms be returned to the school office by Feb. 8.
The DJUSD School Board will address two important issues at this week’s meeting, to be held Thursday at 8 p.m. in Council Chambers. The board will discuss and clarify issues related to intra-district transfers. The board is also expected to make a decision regarding the proposed Valley Oak Charter School.
