Bags Needed for T-Shirt Distribution
The PTA will soon begin bagging and distributing orders for the Valley Oak Commemorative T-Shirts. Please help and do your part to “reuse” by donating your paper grocery bags. Bags can be dropped off at the front office until May 30.

Warm Weather Wardrobe Reminder
Summer is quickly approaching. Here are a few reminders about warm weather wear:
--Students must wear closed toed shoes for safety.
--For girls: tops must cover shoulders and tummies. No spaghetti straps or crop tops.
--Shorts and skirts must be long enough for decency. No underwear should be showing.
--Most important: more sunshine increases the need for sunscreen! Protect your child from the sun’s rays!

Valley Oak Farewell Carnival
Friday, June 6, 5 to 7:30 p.m.
Come celebrate 54 years of Dragon Pride!
Over 30 games and activities including inflatable games, Rocknasium climbing wall (parents must be present to sign a waiver) and the ever popular Cake Walk! Food will be available for purchase from Hotdogger, Jamba Juice and Woodstock's Pizza as well as cotton candy and popcorn. Entertainment will be provided by the Aggie Band-uh! and the Harper Jazz Band. Visit the "Hall of Memories" in the MPR.
Tickets will not be sold this year. Instead, each current Valley Oak student will come home wearing a wristband on Friday, June 6. This wristband will be good for all games and activities (not food).
Non-Valley Oak siblings and community members may purchase a wristband for $5 that night with proceeds benefiting the Davis Schools Foundation.
Donations of cupcakes and cakes are needed for the Cake Walk! Donations may be brought to the school office during school hours on Friday, June 6 or directly to the Cake Walk game that night.

Reunite With Your Belongings
A large collection of coats, sweaters and more are growing in the Lost and Found in the MPR and on the outdoor stage. Please take a look and see if you’ve left anything behind.

Air District Holds Art Competition
The deadline for the Yolo-Solano Air Quality Management District’s annual air quality awareness art competition is June 5.
The contest asks students to create a picture that positively addresses one or more ways to keep the air we breathe clean. Winners receive an award of $50 and their artwork will appear in the Yolo-Solano Air Quality Management District calendar.
For more information and an entry form, visit: www.ysaqmd.org or call 757-3657.

Time to Transfer Your Scrip
With Valley Oak closing in June, it is time to shut down or transfer membership in Scrip programs so that additional donations will go to the school your child is attending in the fall.
Many of you have Nugget scrip cards that generate donations for Valley Oak. Spend those cards down to zero and ask your Nugget checker for another card to indicate the new school to send the donation to. New Nugget cards are also available in the office in the Scrip box. Those who have SaveMart cards should spend those down to zero and discontinue using them. Check with your new school to see if they carry the program. Safeway eScrip cards need the group affiliation changed to the new school. You can do this by going to eScrip.com and clicking on ‘my eScrip’. Obtain your password by clicking on “forgot your password?” The password will be sent to your e-mail account and you can continue on in the eScrip website. If you have any questions you can call Sarah Rizzo at 756-7701 or contact the coordinator at your new school.
