Summer School Jump Start News
This summer our summer school programs will be offered at Birch Lane, Marguerite Montgomery and Patwin elementary schools.
Sessions will be held Monday, Aug. 4 through Friday, Aug. 15, from 8:15 to 11:30 a.m.
Students were nominated by classroom teachers based on specific criteria. If your child was selected for Jump Start Summer School you will receive a letter in the mail. Funding for this program is based on students’ actual attendance. Therefore, once you receive the letter please indicate if your child will be attending and return the form to the school office.
Reminder for all parents: If you move over the summer, please be sure to notify the school office at your new school of your new address.

As we enter this final week at Valley Oak Elementary, our hearts are filled with mixed emotions; happiness in anticipation of summer vacations and sadness that the Valley Oak that we have known and loved is coming to an end. Though we wish that things could have stayed the same, take with you the happy memories that we have shared together. Have a wonderful summer! Wishing you much happiness, new adventures and good memories at your new schools!

Principal’s Message
I would like to take this opportunity to thank all those that have been part of the Valley Oak learning community past and present. It has been my honor to serve such a dedicated group. Although we must say goodbye my hope is that perhaps it may be a new beginning. The knowledge and friendship you shared with us over the years has truly been priceless.
Thank you to all the Valley Oak volunteers who have contributed to making our school community rich. Whether it was driving on field trips, art projects in class, staff appreciation, school events and assemblies, we appreciate wholeheartedly all that you have done for our school.
I also would like to thank our staff. Valley Oak Staff Rocks! It has been my pleasure to work with such a dynamic and energetic group of professionals. Your personal integrity throughout the year full of challenges was my inspiration. Your dedication to students was passionate. It was my honor to serve you.
Most importantly, I would like to thank the Valley Oak Students. Thank you for the time we shared together. Although short, thank you for your smiles, stories and general positive outlook. You are all to be commended for creating a positive climate. You inspired me and our staff. I hope that you will apply the lessons and knowledge that we shared here at Valley Oak to your future adventures at your new schools.
I know the new school year will bring both excitement and a little anxiety. But with these changes come opportunities of new beginnings. I am thankful we were able to experience Valley Oak together. Thank you!

Parent reminder:
The last day of school is this Thursday, June 12. Dismissal time is 12:30 p.m. for grades 1st-6th.

Any items left after school on Thursday will be donated to charity. Stop by the MPR or outdoor stage to retrieve any missing sweatshirts, lunchboxes, etc.
Running Club Presentation
Primary students who participated in Running Club this year are invited to meet after school Tuesday at 2:35 p.m. in the lunch area for a special presentation.
PTA Receipts Due
Attention PTA volunteers: It is time to wrap up our financial books. If you have any receipts for reimbursement from PTA sponsored event expenses, please fill out a reimbursement form and drop it in the PTA box in the school office by Thursday, June 12.
