An update from one of our subscribers:

SB 308 was signed yesterday by the Governor.  This will kick off 
immediate work at the PRC to amend its USF rules and plan out a 
broadband grants program, likely to begin sometime next year once the 
funding mechanism for it begins to generate revenues.

Senate Bill 308 (PRC to facilitate rural broadband service): Amends a 
section of the Rural Telecommunications Act of New Mexico to update 
State Rural Universal Service Fund provisions and establish a broadband 
program administered by the Public Regulation Commission to facilitate 
expansion of broadband service in rural areas.
