DAVIS- - Professor, Journalist and Activist Robert Jensen will be in Davis to speak about “How Media Fails in the time of War” on April 15th, 7 p.m. at 345 L Street.

Robert Jensen was a professional journalist for a decade, received his MA in Journalism and Public Affairs and Ph.D. in Media law and ethics. Currently a faculty member of the University of Texas at Austin School of Journalism, Jensen teaches both at the undergraduate and graduate level on the topics of critical issues and thinking, media law, ethics, and politics.

Jensen on having solid factual supporting evidence for your opinions, “I press these points because we live in a culture in which the skills of intellectual and political engagement are atrophying. Students often equate “argument” with the inane shouting matches of pundits on television talk shows, rather than with the careful defense of a position and response to challenges.”

April 15th, 7 p.m. at 345 L Street, the Yolo County ACLU and Code Pink will host a free event with guest speaker Robert Jensen discussing “How the media fails in times of war”. For more information contact the Yolo County ACLU at 530-756-1900.
