You blew past last week's $250,000 fundraising goal in just 48 hours --
surprising Governor Dean and everyone else. That made it possible to add a
fifth state (Kansas) to the four new ones announced last week.

Governor Dean challenged Democrats across the country to push that goal to
$500,000 by Friday this week -- that's tomorrow. If we reach it together, we
can get the ball rolling this week in another batch of four more states.

You will have more than tripled the program -- adding nine new states in two
weeks. And it will have happened with small donations that have outpaced
anything the Democratic Party has seen in an off-year between elections.

Steve Ybarra will be conducting campaign training on Saturday June 4th in Woodland. The training promises to be an intense seven hours that will give you the tools needed to win in battleground areas where Republicans normally claim elections. 

 

Ybarra is the Pacific Region Chair of the Hispanic Caucus for the National Democratic Committee. I consider him to be one of the best consultants the Democratic Party has.  He has gotten Democrats elected in red states. I incorporate many of Steve?s strategies into my own campaign organizing with proven results.

 

Among the topics he will be covering are:

 

   Organizing a strong field campaign.
   Walking and winning in those hard ?big dog? precincts.
   Executing a winning vote-by-mail strategy, the key to Democratic victories.
   Creating a successful GOTV effort that puts your candidate in the lead when the returns come in.
   Framing your message. Steve has been doing this for 20 years.
   Developing a three-year plan for your Democratic Club.

 

We will be working with a brand new voter file (data base) for Woodland, Davis and Yolo County.

The Radical Right is radically WRONG!
The Radical Right is trying to take over the federal courts, to give
themselves absolute power over our country. Their vision for America will
place ordinary citizens at the mercy of the powerful by, for example:
protecting the interests of corporations like Enron over the rights of
consumers; opposing civil rights protections; limiting the reach of
environmental safeguards; and abolishing reproductive choice.

Terrence Boyle agrees with the Radical Right.
Judge Terrence Boyle, nominated by President Bush for a lifetime appointment
to a federal appellate court, has demonstrated his own Radical Right
ideology in his years as a trial judge in North Carolina. Higher courts,
including the United States Supreme Court, have frequently and vigorously
berated Judge Boyle for many rulings that ignore the law while promoting
Boyle?s own radical ideology. His rulings have been particularly egregious
in civil rights cases, where he has often been an obstacle to equal justice

Greetings DDC Board Members,

I will be unable to attend the meeting next month on the 6th of July.  I
need to attend the Davis Community Network Resource Allocation Committee
meeting to maintain my membership in that organization.  Those meetings are
the first Wednesday of each month.  I am needed there because there are
items that concern my business and other organizations of which I am a
member, including resource allocations for the Davis Democrat Club that
reside on the DCN server.  I will send out the minutes of the previous
meeting that have not been approved and will send out the agenda for the
meeting on the Sunday before the meeting on July 2.  The agenda is set by
the President and Vice President with input from the board.  Items can be
introduced from the floor, but will only be discussed and agendized at the
following meeting for a vote.  I am now asking for agenda items from the
board members.  I will submit them in a pre-agenda to Tony and Kingsley.

I have volunteered and can show up on July 4th at the earliest time for
set-up of the Davis Democrat Club booth and to man the booth.  The only time
I am unavailable will be from 7:30PM until the end of the fireworks.  I will
be available for takedown.  Please let me know when I should be at the booth.

As soon as next week, we could be fighting for the future of the Supreme
Court.  According to the Washington Post, Justice William Rehnquist could
retire any time now, setting off the first nomination battle in a decade.
George Bush has promised us more ultraconservative activist judges in the
mold of Antonin Scalia and Clarence Thomas.

There is no greater threat to our basic civil rights and civil liberties
than a Supreme Court tilted to the extreme.  Your right to breathe clean air
and drink clean water, your right to worker protections, even a woman's
fundamental right to choose - all of this is at stake.

If we're going to put a stop to the right wing plan to take over the Supreme
Court, we simply have to take back the Senate in 2006.  Only the Senate has
the constitutional duty to approve Supreme Court nominations, and only if
Democrats control the Senate can we deny the far right the ability to hand
pick Supreme Court judges.

We can't take back the Senate without your help.  When you make a
