This is the final agenda. If you wish to get anything else on the agenda, you will need to go through the formalized process. The President and other board members had input in the formulating of this agenda. There will be a Davis Democrat Club board meeting on Wednesday, May 4th at 7 PM in the Blanchard Room of the Davis Branch of the Yolo County Library. The address is 315 East 14th Street. The meeting time is 7 to 8 PM. Please note that any Davis Democrat Club member is welcome to attend the meetings. We normally have at least 3 to 4 guests per meeting. If you have any suggestions for future meeting agendas, please send them to Kingsley, Tony, or me via the list. Please also be aware that someone will be telephoning the board members to remind them of the meeting, probably Betty Weir. Other than the Secretary of State and the President himself, the UN Ambassador is our country's chief diplomat. But at a time when the United States is working to repair relationships with our allies and rebuild our image around the world, John Bolton is absolutely the wrong choice for this critical job. After all, John Bolton has shown nothing but contempt for the United Nations throughout his career. He has even gone so far as to state that "there is no United Nations" and "if [the UN Headquarters] lost 10 stories, it wouldn't make a bit of difference." Further, John Bolton has demonstrated a disturbing propensity to politicize the intelligence-gathering process and twist intelligence to suit his needs. In fact, recently Bolton tried to punish two intelligence analysts who disagreed with his views about Cuba's possession of biological weapons. In the aftermath of the Iraq debacle, we can't stand to promote anyone who misuses critical intelligence information. Please stand with Barbara Boxer and me -- tell your Senators to reject John Bolton's nomination by sending them an email at: http://ga4.org/campaign/bolton?rk=F11lvwF1fzSeW *************************************** Powered by GetActive Software, Inc. PBS, NPR and the arts are facing major cutbacks in funding. In spite of the efforts of each station to reduce spending costs and streamline their services, some government officials believe that the funding currently going to these programs is too large a portion of funding for something which is seen as not worthwhile. This is for anyone who thinks NPR/PBS is a worthwhile expenditure of $1.12/year of their taxes. The only way that our representatives can be aware of the base of support for PBS and funding for these types of programs is by making our voices heard. Please add your name to this list and forward it to friends whobelieve in what this stands for. This list will be forwarded to the President and the Vice President of the United States. This petition is being passed around the Internet. Please add your name to it so that funding can be maintained for NPR, PBS, and the NEA. ADD your name to the bottom of the list and SEND it to everyone in your list. DON'T WORRY ABOUT DUPLICATES. This is being sent to several people at once to add their names to the petition. It won't matter if many people receive the same list as THE NAMES ARE BEING MANAGED. If you decide not to sign, please don't kill it. This is the final agenda. Please print out this agenda and bring it to the meeting. I will not be able to attend. I am a member of the City of Davis select Telecommunications Task Force. We will be presenting our Telecommunications Ordinance to the public, along with the franchise renewal proposal from Comcast. It is expected that both items will be approved by the Task Force and be forwarded to the Davis City Council. The bottomline is that I will not be able to attend the DDC meeting. If you wish to get anything else on the DDC agenda, you will need to go through the formalized process. The President and other board members had input in the formulating of this agenda. There will be a Davis Democrat Club board meeting on Wednesday, June 1st at 7 PM in the Blanchard Room of the Davis Branch of the Yolo County Library. The address is 315 East 14th Street. The meeting time is 7 to 8 PM. Please note that any Davis Democrat Club member is welcome to attend the meetings. We normally have at least 3 to 4 guests per meeting. We have never had a meeting without someone from the public in attendance. At the last meeting we had 3 guests in attendence that were club members, but on members of the board. If you have any suggestions for future meeting agendas, please send them to Kingsley, Tony, or me via the list. Please also be aware that someone will be telephoning the board members to remind them of the meeting, probably Betty Weir.
