Fellow Activists:

Sometimes, our efforts pay off.

This past spring, I asked you to give five minutes of your time to email and call Yolo County Supervisor Mariko Yamada to encourage her to support Cache Creek as a Wild and Scenic River. Organizers in Woodland were also able to convince Supervisor Frank Seiferman to support the WSR designation. These efforts then paid-off as Mariko and Frank trusted us in the environmental community and changed the way they intended to vote.

Today, your efforts have born fruit. I just got word from Bob Schneider that the Governor signed into law the legislation that designates Cache Creek as a Wild and Scenic River. Thanks to your help in the early stages of getting local support, a small piece of the earth now has permanent protection.

Without your help the Yolo County vote would have gone the other way. Without Yolo County support, Lake County would have voted against it. Without the two counties directly affected by Cache Creek, the Lois Wolk’s bill would have faced certain doom.

Thanks for making a difference.

Keep hope alive!
