Subject: Alert Alert Conaway Ranch meeting
Importance: High

Folks, (Please forward this to your friends and lists)

Thank you for your support for the Yolo County Board of Supervisors in their efforts to purchase the 17,500 acre Conaway Ranch. Future generations will benefit and appreciate this legacy purchase. The property was purchased by Sacramento developers through the PGE bankruptcy process knowing that Yolo County intended to buy it and was prepared to use eminent domain if necessary.

These owners are developers (including Steve Guidaro) responsible for much of Sacramento’s sprawl making a play to develop Yolo County.

Let’s just say NO to developers, and support the Yolo County effort to protect habitat, water, open space and our agricultural working landscape.

The meeting is open but hardly neutral. It is being held at the Yolo County Farm Bureau office in Woodland and the Farm Bureau has voted to oppose the purchase. After several days of negotiations, the Board confirmed that one member, possibly two, of the Yolo County Board of Supervisors, and County Administrator, Sharon Jensen, will attend the (so called) Town Hall Meeting: "What's Next for Conaway Ranch,"

Seating will be limited; the discussion will begin promptly at 6:30 p.m.

Both the County and the developers will make short presentations at the start of the meeting, and then the floor will be opened up to the public to ask questions of the guests.

Please attend and support the Conaway purchase. Stop the developers. Let us control our own destiny.

  When: Wednesday, February 1, 2006
Where: Yolo County Farm Bureau, 69 W. Kentucky Ave., Woodland.
  Time: 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

  Thanks.

  Cheers,
  Bob
