Subject: Why I think Secretary of State is most important Tuesday Primary

Greetings,

Since most of my time goes into grassroots politics these days, I care
deeply about the Secretary of State position, which oversees voter
registrations and voting procedures. As in Ohio in 2004 and Florida in 2000
and 2004, this can affect who wins elections.

Debra Bowen is THE Election Reform candidate for Secretary of State. As
State Senator from Redondo Beach, she's introduced legislation supporting
election reform and opposing expensive "black box voting" where Diebold and
other electronic voting machines can rule the election process without
adequate oversight. She has opposed Republican Secretary of State
McPherson's dropping tens of 1000's of voters due to minor technicalities in
their voter registration materials.

By contrast, her opponent Debra Ortiz says "why should we turn our back on
technology based on hypothetical fraud" (SF Chronicle)

Bowen currently trails Debra Ortiz in the polls by 7%. About 65% are
undecided, most people know little about either candidate.

Please vote for Bowen and help spread the word. Bowen as California
Secretary of State could help move the nation towards the election reform we
so much need before the 2008 Presidential Election.

Alec
