[Davis Democrats] Corrections and Additions: Emeritus DDC Board Member Mary Lou Hernandez

Dear Davis Democratic Club Board Members,

Mary Lou Hernandez has been a Davis Democratic Club (DDC) member for over 16
years.  She has served on the DDC Board of Directors for 14 of those years.
She was a very familiar face at the Davis campaign headquarters and all of
the club general meetings.  The last general meeting/event she attended was
last year's Ice Cream Social at the home of Jerry Kaneko.  Earlier this
year, the board voted to grant her "Emeritus" board status, something that
has been done only twice before in the club's 56 year history.   

Mary Lou is a fighter and that served her well at the Davis Campaign
Headquarters.  She has been battling cancer in her liver since Spring of
2007 and lung cancer before that.  She has just recently entered into Yolo
Hospice care.  If you wish to send a card or word of encouragement to her

An additional note:  Mary Lou will be recognized at the 25th Annual Concilio
Awards Dinner-Dance on October 18, 2008 at the Yolo County Fair Grounds.
She will be given the Community Award for her long years of community

In addition, Davis Democratic Club Executive Board Members, President Arun
Sen and former Corresponding Secretary Julia Sanchez will also be given the
Community Award for their community service and volunteerism in Yolo County.
They both have put in long hours each month for the Davis Democratic Club
and I feel both deserve all of the awards and laurels that come their way.
