From yolounited at gmail.com Sun Nov 2 06:33:22 2008 From: yolounited at gmail.com (Yolo United) Date: Sun, 02 Nov 2008 06:33:22 -0800 Subject: [Davis Democrats] Huge News from Yolo United Message-ID: <490DBA32.6030207@gmail.com> Wow! What a blockbuster day we had on the campaign today! Our Obama team made over 5,000 calls from the Davis office today alone! Congratulations to all you callers and thank you! And our Yolo County effort made tremendous progress on our get out the vote effort locally. Our amazing volunteers walked precincts in the pouring rain. You're the best! Are you still a tad nervous about what the outcome of this election will be? Do you remember thinking that we were ahead in 2000 and 2004 and somehow the victory was snatched from us? Let's make sure that doesn't happen this time. Let's RUN through the finish line. Come out and join us. We need you. With your help, we can make more swing state calls tomorrow, and we can reach out to all the unlikely voters right here in Yolo County. By running up the score for Obama, we also have the golden opportunity to defeat Propositions 4 and 8. Contribute in the best way for you; call swing states (bring your cell phone and charger, please), or walk precincts locally (Woodland, West Sac or Davis), or come in and do office work (Davis or Woodland) - the Davis office has a big project coming for Sunday afternoon. We'll keep this push on through Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. You want to wake up Wednesday morning knowing you did everything you could to make our dream a reality - now is the time. If not you, who? If not now, when? Thanks for all your great work, Claire Black Slotton director, Yolo United p.s. Don't miss our election night parties in Davis, Winters and Woodland. It was the commitment of millions of grassroots Democrats - ready for a new day - that propelled President-elect Obama to victory.? And it was all your time, money, and effort that is giving him a huge Senate majority to help him change this country. Your impact on this amazing moment cannot be overstated.? For the first time, millions of individual activists have been empowered to make a difference, not in just their corner of the world, but throughout the entire country. This is your victory, in which all of us at the DSCC are so humbled to play just a small role.? For nearly two years you inspired us with your dedication to change.? You saw us through the toughest times with your unyielding loyalty.? And you propelled our Senate candidates to unimaginable heights with your generosity of spirit. Words cannot express the magnitude of what you did for this astounding victory, so I'll keep it simple: Thank you so very, very much. Your hard work has so far earned 6 big Senate victories: > Colorado:? Mark Udall thumped Bob Schaffer easily, 52-43. > New Hampshire:? Remember all those stories you read last week about this race > tightening?? Not so much.? Jeanne Shaheen upended Republican incumbent John > Sununu and will be the next senator from the Granite State. > New Mexico:? Tom Udall won by 22 points, showing once again the American > people rejecting Steve Pearce's brand of hard right extremism. > North Carolina: Voters responded to Democrat Kay Hagan's terrific campaign for > change by rewarding her with a 9-point victory over incumbent Elizabeth Dole. > Oregon: It's taken two days to count the votes, but I just received word that > Gordon Smith has called Jeff Merkley to concede this race. > Virginia:? Proving that the Old Dominion is turning a bright shade of blue, > Mark Warner trounced Republican Jim Gilmore by 30 points. > ? And there are 3 more races that aren't decided yet: > Minnesota:? Al Franken and Norm Coleman are separated by just 437 votes.? This > will trigger an automatic recount. > Georgia:? Saxby Chambliss has failed to win more than 50% of the vote.? > Therefore, state law dictates that he will face Democrat Jim Martin in a > special run-off election on December 2. > Alaska:? Votes are still coming in from remote parts of the state, and the > race between Mark Begich and convicted felon Ted Stevens remains too close to > call. > We will have a mountain of work to do in the coming weeks to win these races.? But right now, I wanted to extend my sincere thanks to all of you for all the work you put in and all the time and money you gave to this campaign. Because of everything you did to change this country, I am so proud to be a Democrat today.? Thank you so much. Sincerely, J.B. Poersch Executive Director ? Charlie Brown for Congress

Dear Willis,

Thank you all so much for your support over the last two days.   And with your help we are working 24/7 to ensure that every legal vote in this election is counted.

Please Click Here to Help us Ensure that every Vote is counted.

We remain confident that once all absentee and provisional ballots are tallied, Charlie Brown will emerge with more votes than Tom McClintock.

That said, there have been a number of developments in the past 24 hours.   Here's what we know right now:

?     Charlie Brown has won at least 3 of 9 counties in the CA 04 race-Sierra, Plumas, and Nevada.   The district's two largest counties , Placer and El Dorado, are too close to call.

?     The number of uncounted absentee and provisional ballots district-wide has RISEN to over 50,000, including thousands of provisional ballots.

As the process unfolds and we all take part in an historic election that only gets more intense every day, we will continue to keep all of you informed.

Click here to contribute to our ongoing efforts to ensure EVERY ballot it counted.

Six counties are still not finished counting more than 50,000 ballots.

El Dorado and Placer counties are too close to call, and Butte, Sacramento, and Lassen counties have the fewest ballots out.   That leaves Nevada County as the battleground---which Charlie won on election day with more than a 15% advantage.

We are profoundly grateful for the tireless efforts being m! ade by a ll 9 county registrars to ensure a transparent and fair counting process.   And we remain focused on ensuring we have the on-the-ground resources to support their efforts in the face of an army of Right Wing partisan lawyers.

Click Here to Support Our Election Protection Program

If you have contributed to the campaign's election protection fund, we cannot thank you enough - if you have not, please consider contributing now, and please forward this request to friends, family and neighbors to ensure that their voice is heard.

We will NOT rest until every vote is counted.

We WILL ultimately be successful.

Thank you so much for your support.   Stay tuned for more updates as we grind through the process.

Sincerely,

Todd Stenhouse

Campaign Manager

a href=" http://www.charliebrownforcongress.org/lists/lt.php?id=cUVWUgECVgNWSAJXDE4CW lYEXA%3D%3D " > P.S. - Please contribute now to ensure we can get every vote counted, and please forward this urgent request to five friends!
