URGENT NEED FOR PRECINCT WALKERS
Yolo United is in great need of precinct walkers for West Sacramento, 
Woodland, and even Davis. For this and other great volunteer 
opportunities, please call the Davis headquarters and ask for Louise

THIS WEEKEND’S EVENTS

LOIS’ LUAU OCTOBER 10TH IN DIXON – THIS FRIDAY
Bring your friends and family and join Assemblymember Lois Wolk at the 
6th Annual Lois' Luau featuring a special guest speaker Congressman Mike 
Thompson and event emcee State Senate President Pro-tem Elect Darrell 
Steinberg. The event will be held this Friday, October 10th. Lois’ Luau 
will be at the Dixon May Fairgrounds. The reception starts at 5:30 p.m. 
with dinner at 6:00 p.m., and the evening’s program begins at 7:00 p.m.

Sponsorship and tickets are available now. Sponsorship levels are:

AN AFTERNOON IN THE COUNTRY – OCTOBER 11TH – THIS SATURDAY
Yolo United invites you to a fabulous fund raiser - “An Afternoon in the 
Country” co-sponsored by John and Marsha Anderson and Richard and 
Evelyne Rominger. The event, this Saturday, October 11th, from 3 p.m. to 
5 p.m., will feature slow-food savories and music by Jive Mountain. Come 
out to Hedgerow Farms at 21740 County Road 88 in Winters. Suggested 
donation is $100 or whatever you can afford, 100% of which goes to

NO ON 8 PUBLIC ACTION/ DEMONSTRATION  WOODLAND – 10/11 – THIS SATURDAY
No on 8 will hold a demonstration in Woodland this Saturday, October 
11th, at 10:30 a.m. to noon to show support for marriage equality. The 
group will gather at Sycamore Pointe at the intersection of East Main 
and Pioneer Streets (near Big 5 shopping plaza). Make your own signs if 
you like - positive, non-partisan signs only; please don't say "hate" or 
"discrimination." Use words/phrases such as "Equality for All” or 
"Fairness" or "We all Deserve the Right to Marry.” Questions? Contact

The plaza has a large parking lot. In order to be respectful of 
shoppers, please park throughout the parking lot and walk to the corner. 
Do not park immediately next to the corner (near Wendy’s), as we do not 
want to impact customer parking in any one area of the lot.

CAMPAIGN NEWS & ACTIVITIES:


HELP REGISTER VOTERS AT UCD – VOTER REG DEADLINE IS 10/20
If you’d like to help register voters at UCD, where the goal is 1,000 
new registrants per week, tabling is done Monday through Friday from 10 
a.m. to 5 p.m. To sign up, contact Brian Micek at the Yolo United Davis 
office at 530-231-5746 or at bmicek at micekpublicaffairs.com. You can also 
volunteer to donate baked goods for this effort.


EARLY VOTING LOCATIONS
Early voting is taking place this week at the elections office in 
Woodland. Anyone registered to vote in Yolo County may vote any day this 
week (through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the elections office, 625 
Court Street, Suite B-05 (in the basement).  For more information, call 
530-666-8133.

Early voting will also take place at the UCD MU from October 27th 
through October 31st from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Anyone registered to vote in 
Yolo County may vote there during that time. To check to make sure you 
are registered in Yolo County go to yoloelections.org or outside of Yolo 
County go to canivote.org.


NEW SHIPMENT OF OBAMA LAWNS SIGNS IN AT DAVIS HQ
The Yolo United Davis HQ just received a new shipment of Obama lawn 
signs. The Davis HQ is located at 1801 Hanover Dr., Suite C (behind Save 
Mart). A suggested donation of $10 ($5 gratefully accepted) is requested 
for a lawn sign. A new shipment of Obama bumper stickers and buttons are 
scheduled to arrive soon. Donate with cash or make checks payable to the 
“Davis Democratic Club.”

The Yolo United Woodland headquarters (444 Main St.) is also stocked 
with Obama lawn signs. Donate with cash or make checks payable to the 
“Woodland Democratic Club.”


BAKE FOR CHANGE IN DAVIS
What can we do here in CA to help the cause?  We can lend moral support 
to hard-working volunteers in hard-fought swing states, for one thing!

Join friends and neighbors in the kitchen this Sunday, October 12th, 
from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. to make cookies to send to those working 
tirelessly to bring Missouri in for Obama, and the nation in for all of 
us.  We'll bake, have some friendly campaign chit chat, and learn how 
best to affect the change we're all looking for in the short time we 
have left. Kids welcome- we'll also be making yard signs!"

ABSENTEE VOTER DEADLINES
Requests for vote-by-mail applications are now open.

The absentee or vote-by-mail ballot requests must be RECEIVED by the 
Yolo County Clerk by Tuesday, October 28th.

The first date that absentee or vote-by-mail ballots can be mailed is 
Monday, October 6th.

Although there is no stated deadline for mailing in the absentee or 
vote-by-mail ballot, we recommend that you mail no later than Saturday, 
November 1st, as ballots must be received by the County Clerk no later 
than 8 p.m. on Election Day in order to be counted.

If you have not mailed your absentee or vote-by-mail ballot in by 
Saturday, November 1st, remember, you can take it IN PERSON to ANY 
polling place in Yolo County and turn it in before the polls close on 
Election Day, November 4th.


WOODLAND CAMPAIGN WORK & ACTIVITIES
Precinct walking in Woodland is happening at these times:

•    Sunday afternoons, 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.  
•    Saturday mornings, 9 a.m. - Noon
•    Monday and Thursday evenings, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Meet at the Yolo United Woodland HQ at 444 Main Street.

Phone banking to local voters will take place on Wednesday and Thursday 
evenings, 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. (phone banking will not take place on 
October 15th during the debate-watch gathering in the HQ).


NO ON 8 PHONE BANKING
No on Prop 8 phone banking continues at the Yolo United Davis
Headquarters at 1801 Hanover, Suite C (behind Save Mart off Anderson and
Covell). Phone banking will be every Tuesday evening from 6 p.m. to 9 
p.m. and Sunday afternoons from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Please bring your cell

Lawn signs, bumper stickers and window signs are available at the Davis
Farmers’ Market on Saturdays and also on the front porch at 647 Sunset
Ct. (Davis) and at both Yolo United headquarters.


NEVADA WEEKENDS – THE BIG PUSH IN THIS SWING STATE
All out-of-state travel now needs to go through the Obama website at:

Travel volunteers must sign up by 3:00 p.m. on the Sunday before their 
trips. Travelers will receive phone calls by 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday prior 
to the trip. Travel volunteers will receive a confirmation email of 
their trip details on Thursday with location information.


PHONE BANKING TO BATTLEGROUND STATES AT YU DAVIS HQ – NEW TIME
Phone banking to battleground states continues at the Yolo United Davis 
Headquarters behind Save Mart (1801 Hanover St, Ste. C). Phone banking 
on Mondays and Wednesdays will now start at 4 p.m. because our new 
target, Colorado, is on Mountain time.

Phone banking nights will be held every Monday and Wednesday from 4 p.m. 
to 8 p.m. and every Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. If you can, bring 
your cell phone and/or your laptop. We will be using Skype technology to 
make most of the calls. Scripts and training will be provided. For more

DAVIS DEBATE PARTY AT THE GRAD – 10/15
The Yolo United Davis office will hold a debate-watching party for the 
last presidential debate at The Graduate (805 Russell Blvd., University 
Mall, Davis) Wednesday night, October 15th. There will be a $5 minimum 
charged by The Graduate.  Pay $5 at the door and in exchange, receive a 
$5 voucher for food. The debate starts at 6 pm, so come a little earlier 
and order your grub.


WOODLAND VP DEBATE PARTY AT YU WOODLAND HQ – 10/15
Please join fellow Obama/Biden supporters at the Woodland Yolo United 
Headquarters (444 Main St.) on Wednesday, October 15th, to watch the 
last presidential debate. The debate will begin at 6:00 p.m., so plan to 
arrive any time after 5:30 p.m.  
 
Bring your own chair and your own food.  Beverages (soda, beer and wine) 
will be available for a donation of $1 per drink.  


DAVIS MUSICIANS FOR PEACE TO HOLD FREE CONCERT IN DAVIS’ CENTRAL PARK – 
10/19
Davis Musicians for Peace will hold a free concert “Peace and Music in 
the Park” on Sunday, October 19th, 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. in Davis’s Central 
Park. There will be Democratic rally during the concert. Featured bands 
include: No Illusions, Kurt Roggli, Davis Drummers for Peace. For more

NO ON PROP 8 SACRAMENTO FUND RAISER – 10/27
Woodland resident Jeremy Matney is planning a No on 8 benefit dinner on 
Monday, October 27th, at ROK, 1930 K Street in Sacramento. The cost is 
$100/per person. The ticket price includes dinner, dancing and 
entertainment and a no-host bar. The event begins at 6:30 p.m. For
