Message-ID: <20091104092902.80909E70401@mx.dcn.davis.ca.us> Greetings Davis Democratic Club Members, The rules of this list were on the agenda for tonight's board meeting. Before, there were over 50 people that could post events to this list. In response to all of the e-mail that was generated to the moderators of this list and to the DDC Board in response to a recent post to this list, that many found inappropriate, it was decided at tonight's board meeting that access to posting to the list would now be restricted only to the moderators of the list. The moderators of this list from its inception, 10 years ago, are: G Richard Yamagata Bob Bockwinkel John Chendo Arun Sen (added 4 years ago) If you wish to post something to this list, you can contact any of the moderators. But the person that has the most time to interact with you is G Richard at yamagata at virtual-markets.net Please send Richard your e-mail that you want posted to the list and please follow up the e-mail with a phone call at 530-848-8634 (toll free in Davis). This is to insure that Richard has seen your e-mail. Please note that only items that have to do with Democrats, the Democratic party, issues important to Democrats, Democratic Party information and events and Democratic candidates and their fundrasiers will be approved. You will continue to receive e-mails from John Chendo on items that affect Democrats or need action by Democrats. I would like to thank the 239 people on this list for continuing to subscribe to it. We do listen to you (29 complaints or comments via e-mail registered at last count) and hence the change in posting policy. This panel discussion would have explained what the single payer and public options are and there was a planned handout -- the survivor's essential guide to health care or everything you need to know, but did not know to ask. This is a timely topic and we have been unable to get the speakers for a program together. The bottomline is that there will not be a November General Meeting of the Davis Democratic Club. If you wish to learn about The Future of Health Care in America, please consider going to the International House panel discussion on Monday, November 9 at 7PM. This has nothing to do with the Davis Democratic Club -- but if you are confused and have questions, this is a place to go to have your fears addressed and to learn answers. The address is 10 College Street. The speakers are Dr Shereen Vera, formerly of Sutter Memorial Hospital and Doctors of the World, and Elizabeth Sholes, public policy director of the California Council of Churches. The presenters of this event say, "Health care isn't free, but this talk is! Please Join Us!" They also pose the question, "Should you worry?" That will be answered at this panel discussion. This is a free event and the public is invited. It'll be the first time in more than 60 years that the full body votes on comprehensive reform, and we expect it to be very close. But with just a few days before the vote, the insurance industry and their allies are putting extraordinary pressure on every representative to defeat it. We know that their expensive lobbyists will be dashing to each congressional office, attempting to twist arms. The only question is whether the phones will be ringing off the hook with constituents supporting reform while that happens. Click here to call your representative right now and tell them to vote in favor of real health insurance reform. The House bill incorporates the best ideas from Democrats and Republicans to guarantee security and stability for those with insurance, provide affordable options for those without -- including the choice of a public insurance option -- and reduce costs for families and small businesses, all while decreasing the deficit. Many representatives are standing with the President and fighting hard for reform. They need to know that they have our thanks and our support. And we need to remind the rest of Congress that Americans need them to rise above partisan divides and stand up to the special interests. Please call: http://my.barackobama.com/HouseVote It's down to the wire. Your hard work helped bring us to this historic moment. Now let's bring it home.
