  Dear John, First off, thank you again for contributing towards our
year-end grassroots fundraising drive, helping us surpass our goal of 1,000
donors before the December 31 deadline. Marcelle and I are so grateful for
your strong show of support. We can't thank you enough for your generous
help.
As you know, our country suffered a tremendous loss this past year with the
passing of my friend and colleague, Senator Ted Kennedy. He made health care
reform the cause of his life, because health care should be a right, not a
privilege -- and now we're so close to passing real reform. But we're not
done yet.

On Tuesday, Massachusetts is holding a special election to determine Ted's
successor, and Democratic Attorney General Martha Coakley is running
neck-and-neck with her Republican opponent. To produce the 60 Senate votes
we need to pass health care reform this year, it's absolutely critical that
Martha win on Tuesday and hold on to Ted's seat.
