Hi John,

The link to the Inaugural International Festival Davis sponsored and
presented by
the International House and UC Davis Office of Campus Community Relations
is: www.internationalfestivaldavis.org. The
event is being held at the Veterans Memorial Center, near the corner of 14th
and B Streets in Davis on this coming Saturday
October 1st from 12:00 noon - 6:00 p.m, all afternoon with activities and
programs for adults and children of all ages. Admission is free.

This event is a celebration of
the 30th anniversary of the
International House Davis. The mission of the International House is to
foster peace through cultural interactions that foster understanding. There
will be food vendors and a variety of wonderful speakers.

Mr. Desmond Jolly will speak about America's Cultural Ambassadors Program
of the U.S. State Dept. featuring American music of artists like Louie
Armstrong and Dizzy Gillespie. A film, "Jimena," will be shown at 2:35pm
about the Lost Indigenous Jewish Communities of North Africa and the Middle
East, with a Jimena fashion show at 5pm. Folklorico of Woodland will perform
at 12:40p. UC Davis Humphreys program fellows will speak at 3pm.

Assemblywoman Mariko Yamada is an honored invitee. The Jazz Patrol, a
local Davis band, will be performing from 5-6p.m. to close the festival. The
afternoon stands to be a fine and fun event. Come out to show your support
for our basic American and international values of unity in diversity, e
pluribus unum.
