Last Friday, the U.S. Post Office put on hold its plan to eliminate rural
post offices.

Congratulations to our Democratic Congressmembers Mike Thompson and John
Garamendi and Democratic Senators Diane Feinstein and Barbara Boxer.

It appears that other cost efficiencies will be tried in all post offices,
without resorting to closures. More planning is still to be done, and most
likely in the future another round of notices and public hearings. The
voice of common people is being heard on this public infrastructure issue.

This is a relatively small issue in the overall scale of things. But it is
an example of the potential loss of a public service. Speak with Ms. Sandra
