[Davis Democrats] Wednesday - Concilio and two education candidates to speak

Greetings All,

Concilio and two education candidates to speak.  A chance to hear from
education candidate.  

Wednesday, September 5, will be the 288th lunch time meeting of the Davis
Progressive Business Exchange (PBE).  The keynote speaker will be Rick
Gonzalez Jr. He will be speaking about the upcoming Mexican American
Concilio recognition and scholarship fundraiser to be held on November 3,
2018.  This is the 34th Annual dinner which honors community members and
awards scholarships to Latino high school students from seven area high
schools. The dinner will be at the Veterans Memorial Center in Davis at 5 p.m.

There will be two other speakers, who are candidates and stumping for
educational positions in Davis and Yolo County.  Cindy Pickett is a
candidate for Davis School Board.  This is a Davis, City Wide election.  If
you live within the city limits of Davis, you can vote for any school baord
candidate.  She is an Associate Professor of Psychology and Associate
Vice-Provost for Faculty Equity and Inclusion at UC Davis and the parent of
two school age children.  Dr. Pickett is running for school board to ensure
that the school district provides a high quality public education that
serves the needs of all students. 

The other speaker is David Murphy, a candidate for Yolo County Board of
Education, District 2, who was formerly Superintendent of the Davis Unified
School District.  If you live in Don Saylor's district, District 2, you can
vote for David Murphy or the person or persons running against him.  David
Murphy says, he wants to bring his local knowledge, expertise and commitment
to public schools to the Board of Education.  

The Davis PBE meets for lunch time meetings the first and third Wednesdays
at the International House, 10 College Park off of Russell Blvd in Davis,
CA.  The times of the meetings are from 11:45am to 1pm.  The Davis PBE is a
Davis business networking lunch organization.  Lunch is catered by Lamppost
Pizza and there is no cost to attend.  If you wish to attend the lunch
