The Sacramento Symphonic Winds are pleased to announce our 2018 Scholarship. Application is attached.

About the Program
The Dr. Les Lehr and Marjorie Lehr Music Performance Scholarship is a $300 grant program designed to provide financial support for an individual to pursue or to continue to pursue instrumental music lessons.


Eligibility
This scholarship is specifically intended for wind ensemble players or percussionists who reside in or attend a local high school or college in the following counties: El Dorado, Placer, Sacramento and Yolo. To be eligible applicants must be a full-time student and be enrolled with a minimum of 12 units or more. They must be currently participating in their high school or college band program. Applicants are limited to high school Juniors/Seniors and college Freshman/Sophomores/Juniors. Students who can demonstrate a financial need may be given a preference in the selection process. Individuals may apply themselves or be recommended and referred by their music teacher following the completion of the brief application.


Application & Selection
The applicant, or referring teacher should complete the provided application, providing a history of the applicant's musical study and performance experience. In the "Statement of Request" section, please provide both a statement of financial need, and justification for consideration for the award. the application must be submitted to the review committee electronically by the deadline posted on the application. The application may be typed or neatly printed then scanned and submitted to the email listed on the application. Applicants will be contacted via email within 3 days to notify that application was received and is under review. All applicants will be notified approximately 2 weeks after the application submittal deadline regarding their application status. The selected Applicant will be notified by email and will have 10 days from the email notification date to accept the scholarship. An announcement of the Scholarship Award and the Recipient’s name will be made at the Sacramento Symphonic Winds March 18, 2018 concert.


Payment of Scholarship
The scholarship awardee (or their parents) will be reimbursed for up to $300 worth of private lessons received. Reimbursement will be made upon receipt, by SSW, of the private teacher's invoice (again, up to $300), for lessons given. Lesson rates must be comparable to the average charged in the greater Sacramento region. Invoice(s) must be received by December 1st, 2018.
