before everyone starts their summer. <u>Please read all the way through, there’s an important announcement at the end that is vital to the continuation of DHS Band Boosters.</u></span><span style="font-size:10.0pt;font-family:"Helvetica",sans-serif"><o:p></o:p></span></p>

<p class="ydpedef66a7msonormal" style="margin-bottom:0in;margin-bottom:.0001pt"><span style="font-size:12.0pt;font-family:"Helvetica",sans-serif">We have already begun planning a great trip to celebrate Victoria Day next May, 2020, with a trip to Seattle and
Victoria, B.C.!</span><span style="font-size:10.0pt;font-family:"Helvetica",sans-serif"><o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="ydpedef66a7msonormal" style="margin-bottom:0in;margin-bottom:.0001pt"><span style="font-size:12.0pt;font-family:"Helvetica",sans-serif">To remind you just how important DHS Band Boosters is to the DHS Bands program, we'd like to share what we provided
for these musicians this last school year, as compared to what they get from the district:</span><span style="font-size:10.0pt;font-family:"Helvetica",sans-serif"><o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="ydpedef66a7msonormal" style="margin-bottom:0in;margin-bottom:.0001pt"><span style="font-size:12.0pt;font-family:"Helvetica",sans-serif">From DJUSD: Mr. Slabaugh and Mr. Moreno pooled their $500 and got a new director chair/stand. That’s it.</span><span style="font-size:10.0pt;font-family:"Helvetica",sans-serif"><o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="ydpedef66a7msonormal" style="margin-bottom:0in;margin-bottom:.0001pt"><b><span style="font-size:12.0pt;font-family:"Helvetica",sans-serif">From Boosters:</span></b><span style="font-size:10.0pt;font-family:"Helvetica",sans-serif"><o:p></o:p></span></p>

<p class="ydpedef66a7msonormal" style="margin-bottom:0in;margin-bottom:.0001pt"><span style="font-size:12.0pt;font-family:"Helvetica",sans-serif">We've attached the final banking summary for you to review. As you can see, there were other expenses as well
(accounting, fundraisers, paying for substitutes when Mr. Slabaugh was on a trip or to festivals with the students, etc). </span><span style="font-size:10.0pt;font-family:"Helvetica",sans-serif"><o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="ydpedef66a7msonormal" style="margin-bottom:0in;margin-bottom:.0001pt"><span style="font-size:12.0pt;font-family:"Helvetica",sans-serif">In March the students went on a super fun trip to Disneyland, including a recording session with Disney music!
Sue and Melinda did a fabulous job keeping the trip on budget. In fact, they were able to keep the trip at $850 per person (as opposed to increasing it to $1000, which we almost had to do.)</span><span style="font-size:10.0pt;font-family:"Helvetica",sans-serif"><o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="ydpedef66a7msonormal" style="margin-bottom:0in;margin-bottom:.0001pt"><span style="font-size:12.0pt;font-family:"Helvetica",sans-serif">And just as a reminder for next year’s Victoria trip:
<i>every student can go, regardless of ability to pay.</i> One of the things boosters provides is trip support if a family cannot afford all the trip fee. </span><span style="font-size:10.0pt;font-family:"Helvetica",sans-serif"><o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="ydpedef66a7msonormal" style="margin-bottom:0in;margin-bottom:.0001pt"><span style="font-size:12.0pt;font-family:"Helvetica",sans-serif">Carolyn, Stephen, and others did a great job with Coconut Grove: We met our goal of $13,000!</span><span style="font-size:10.0pt;font-family:"Helvetica",sans-serif"><o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="ydpedef66a7msonormal" style="margin-bottom:0in;margin-bottom:.0001pt"><span style="font-size:12.0pt;font-family:"Helvetica",sans-serif">DHS band parents did a great job with direct donations! We raised over $14,000, exceeding our goal of $10K!</span><span style="font-size:10.0pt;font-family:"Helvetica",sans-serif"><o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="ydpedef66a7msonormal" style="margin-bottom:0in;margin-bottom:.0001pt"><span style="font-size:12.0pt;font-family:"Helvetica",sans-serif">The Tea Party fundraiser brought in $5728!</span><span style="font-size:10.0pt;font-family:"Helvetica",sans-serif"><o:p></o:p></span></p>

<span style="font-size:12.0pt;font-family:"Helvetica",sans-serif">With all the above, and other, fundraising, and managing expenses, this leaves us with about a $7500 increase in our bottom line. This is great news, as it can be used next year, and in years
to come, to continue to provide for the band program. </span><span style="font-size:10.0pt;font-family:"Helvetica",sans-serif"><o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="ydpedef66a7msonormal" style="margin-bottom:0in;margin-bottom:.0001pt"><span style="font-size:12.0pt;font-family:"Helvetica",sans-serif">HOWEVER:
</span><span style="font-size:12.0pt;font-family:"Helvetica",sans-serif">MOST IMPORTANTLY: no one has yet volunteered to be treasurer.
<b><span style="background:yellow;mso-highlight:yellow">We must have a <i><u>treasurer</u></i> to continue boosters.</span></b> If we do not have one, boosters will have to dissolve.
<b><i><u><span style="background:yellow;mso-highlight:yellow">We also need a secretary</span>.</u></i></b> Calling all incoming 10-12 grade parents, we need these positions filled!
<b><u>We legally must of have them both</u></b>, to continue our booster organization.</span><span style="font-size:10.0pt;font-family:"Helvetica",sans-serif"><o:p></o:p></span></p>
