Dear Parents of Davis Music Students,

Please join the Davis High School Jazz Band for an evening of extraordinary jazz on Sunday, March 29 (7:00 PM) as they perform jointly with Sacramento’s Capital Jazz Project (CJP).

Whether you or your student currently plays jazz, or simply enjoys listening to jazz, this will be an evening of great music to remember for years. CJP members will perform with the award-winning Davis High School Jazz Band, and the musical exchange will continue as select Jazz Band members join CJP to honor the music of Hank Jones.

Hank Jones is one of the rare individuals inducted by the National Endowment for the Arts as a “Jazz Master.” In over seventy years as a pianist, band leader and composer, he embodied the essence of mainstream jazz, making him one of the most sought after and recorded Jazz pianists throughout jazz history. He joined other jazz greats throughout his career, including Ella Fitzgerald, Benny Goodman, Artie Shaw, Charlie Parker and Wes Montgomery.

This will be a wonderful evening for jazz enthusiasts and all musicians—whether aspiring or already accomplished. Don’t miss it!
