[Dhsbb-jazz] Rent-A-Band Opportunity for Band students

Rent-a-Band is a way for students to entertain the community leading up to the holidays, have a lot of fun, and raise funds toward the Spring Trip. It's also a wonderful way for parents to be involved with the community and the band program.

If you have gig suggestions or want to help in any way, please contact Renee Lawver De Angelis, the Booster Secretary, at dhsbbsecretary at gmail.com<mailto:dhsbbsecretary at gmail.com>. Please talk with your students and encourage them to participate in this festive opportunity. Rehearsals are scheduled for Thursdays, Nov. 7 and 14, from 3:30-5:30.

In the past, the band has been booked for 8-10 gigs. The students rehearse with Mr. Slabaugh and play from a library of simple holiday music in four parts. This is a valuable musical experience for the students, as it helps them learn to play in small ensembles of 6-8 players and listen to each other with no conductor. Once trained, he will select student leaders who will be in touch with the parent coordinator.
