Band Booster Minutes-May 7, 2014

The meeting was called to order at 7:30pm.

Minutes-The minutes of the April 2 Booster meeting will be posted in the newsletter and considered for adoption at the June meeting. The minutes from tonight's meeting will be posted in the following newsletter for consideration in June.

Band Director's Report-Mr. Tom Slabaugh gave the Director's Report. The Senior Concert was awesome last night. The combined bands, referred to as the wind ensemble, will rehearse Thursday from 7:30 to 9:30pm. Jeff Simons, one of the owners of Watermelon Music, will present the Best Communities for Music Education Award on behalf of the National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) at 11:00am at Central Park at the Festivity of the Arts. Call time is 10:30am. Students will wear the blue polos and jeans. Upcoming events after the Victoria trip include Jazz on a Summer's Eve and Commencement.

Treasurer's Report-Deepali Bhargava reviewed the April 30 Treasurer's Report. See below.

Senior Concert
The following awards were presented at the concert:
John Philip Souza Award (2014): Andy Miller
Louis Armstrong Award (2014): Garrek Najita
Bob Day Award for Musical Excellence & Leadership (2014): Armen Hovagimian
Looking for perpetual award plaques in the music building. If they cannot be found, we will restart with new ones.
We sold 11 DVDs at the concert. Look for forthcoming email announcing the continued sale.

Polo Shirts
We have a reserve of several shirts for contingencies. Most students and parents have received their shirts now, although we have a few size swaps remaining. Gwynn will bring a few extra shirts on the trip.

Calendar-John Horn will reserve car wash dates for next year. Next year's calendar is pretty well set. See Band Booster website.

Festivity of the Arts
Parent coordination details were discussed.

Our next Booster meeting is June 4, 2013 at 7:30 pm in the Band Room where we will have our annual elections.
