DHS BAND BOOSTERS - MEETING MINUTES

March 3, 2015
Meeting began 7:40pm

Minutes from the last meeting were approved

Director's Report:

  1.  Honor bands finished in February-13 students participated.
  2.  Proposed purchase of Conn tuba for $1,080 including trade of old tuba to Holmes Jr. High.  Unanimously approved.
  3.  Donation of euphonium and trombone.
  4.  John Cron donated a Steinway B.  Total of $280 in moving and other costs.
  5.  Coconut Grove:  Student volunteers are signing up-confident that there will be enough volunteers.  Tom will provide pancake breakfast for all who help on Saturday morning setup.  Other high school students will be invited to volunteer.
  6.  Band Festival planned for March 18-19.  Junior High bands will come to DHS for clinic.  Bands perform in the evenings.
  7.  Lange Scholarship: Need for string bass player.  Decision to extend the application for scholarship.  Student identified who is interested.  Announcement to be made at Senior Concert.
  8.  Working on approval of honors designation for band classes.

UPCOMING EVENTS:

Reno Jazz Festival: Performance date to be determined.

COMMITTEE ITEMS:

Coconut Grove: Is March 7th. We will start setting up on Saturday morning at 7:00am.  176 tickets sold so far, not sold out.  Doors open at 5:30 PM.



San Diego Band Spring trip May 14-18, 2015: 10 chaperons, 89 students signed up.  Schedule getting firmed up-includes Padres game, which will include hot dog and drinks.
