[Dhsbb-jazz] More people needed for SUPER EASY recycling!

Thanks to everyone who came on Saturday to the recycling talk.  There were 20 families present, and our recyclables came to $86!  Even if we do $50 per week as a group, that can be over $1500 for the school year, just by putting out your recyclables!  It's so easy!  But we've only had 6 families sign up so far, and there are over 100 families in band. Let's set a goal of 20 families signing up tonight!

We all purchase beverages of many types and we all pay at the register for not just the liquid inside, but we also pay a CRV of typically 5-10 cents per container (sometimes more). Why don’t we take that money that we otherwise throw into our recycling bins for pick-up every week and donate it to the band!!




I have created a spreadsheet where families can sign up to have their recycling picked up (every Saturday at 10:00 am) and also a place where people can sign up to collect the donations and take to Davis Recology Buy Back Program located at 2727 2nd St. in Davis. The recycling center will issue a check to each person/family per delivery (they are unable to provide checks in excess of $200 per person) which will in turn need to be cashed in and turned into Band Boosters.

Important details for participation:

Please have your clean and rinsed recyclables in a paper sack (or other reusable container) on your front porch by 10:00 am the day of pickup

                We will be dumping the recyclables into plastic storage containers (provided by the Keffler-Roa family) inside the pickup vehicles so donation containers will stay at the house that provided them

A reminder email will be sent out every Friday to those who signed up to donate

Start date is Friday this week ONLY  (PICKUP WILL BE BETWEEN 4-5PM), then it will go to Saturdays.

 

WITH THE HOLIDAYS APPROACHING THINK OF ALL THE CANS/BOTTLES/GLASSES YOU MIGHT HAVE TO DONATE!!!! ASK YOUR NEIGHBORS TOO!!

 

I have created a short list of items that are eligible for CRV and a few items that are not:

 

Eligible

ANY BEVERAGE WITH CRV LISTED ON THE CONTAINER

Glass bottles (beer, soda, etc.)

Plastic (water bottles, soda bottles, liters)

Aluminum cans (La Croix, soda, beer)

 

Ineligible

Wine bottles

Milk jugs
