size=2></FONT><BR>Dear Jazz Band Parents,<BR><BR>There are two upcoming
Jazz Band events where your help is needed: the Capital Jazz Band
concert with our Jazz Band at 7:00 PM on Sunday, March 29 and the Reno
Jazz Festival April 24 - 25.<BR><BR><SPAN
style="FONT-WEIGHT: bold">Capital Jazz Project:</SPAN><BR><BR>The combined
concert with our DHS Jazz Band on March 29 will be the fourth year the
Capital Jazz Project (CJP) has performed at the Brunelle
Theater/IPAB. The CJP is a group of local jazz professionals and
educators committed to enhancing jazz performance and education in the
Sacramento region (<A id=SAWARN1d6eml9

real_href="http://www.capitaljazzproject.com/" original_id=""
original_name=""><SPAN class=yshortcuts

year the CJP will again be featuring DHS students as soloists, they will
play with our band and they will conduct an evening clinic with the Jazz
Band in preparation for Reno.<BR><BR>The CJP - Jazz Band concert is not
part of our regularly scheduled DHS Bands series, therefore it is up to us
to ensure this educational event for our students is as successful as
possible.<BR><BR>Please respond if you can volunteer with any of the
following:<BR><BR>1. <SPAN style="FONT-WEIGHT: bold">Ticket
Sales:</SPAN> will be at the door only. Prices are reduced
from last year to $12 adult, $8 student/senior, and $5 for children
(Junior High and younger).<BR><BR>2. <SPAN
style="FONT-WEIGHT: bold">Publicity:</SPAN> we need to promote this
concert as much as possible. This is a terrific concert for adults
and a great way for younger students to learn about jazz and the DHS jazz
program. We'd like to see a full auditorium so that this becomes a
financially sustainable and ongoing educational and performance experience
for our students. <BR><BR>The following publicity assistance is
needed:<BR><BR> a. Davis Enterprise: one or more
articles <BR> b. Junior High listserves and music
programs<BR> c. DHS newsletter, other outlets<BR>
d. Poster distribution around Davis and <SPAN class=yshortcuts

(students can be recruited)<BR> e. Woodland: High Schools and
Community College<BR> f. Your workplace: a copy of the poster
is attached...please post!<BR> g. Other?? (suggestions
welcome)<BR><BR>We are not planning on DVD sales, nor are we currently
planning on selling water or baked goods.<BR><BR
style="FONT-WEIGHT: bold"><SPAN style="FONT-WEIGHT: bold">Reno Jazz
Festival:</SPAN><BR><BR>Volunteers are needed for the Reno Jazz Festival
(April 24 - 25) for the following positions:<BR><BR>1. <SPAN
style="FONT-WEIGHT: bold">Carpool coordinator:</SPAN> travel will be by
private automobile. Given the distance, carpools must be arranged
well in advance.<BR><BR>2. <SPAN style="FONT-WEIGHT: bold">Chaperone
coordinator</SPAN>: this is a chaperoned trip, especially given that
we are staying at a casino hotel.<BR><BR>3. <SPAN
style="FONT-WEIGHT: bold">Breakfast coordinator:</SPAN> on the last
Reno trip, several parents organized a bagel/juice breakfast in one of the
adult hotel rooms. This was a good way to start the day, as it was
fast and meant students had one less meal to buy in the casino. We
will need breakfast on Saturday, April 25.<BR><BR>Please help make these
great events happen for our students and volunteer for one or several of
