This means that it was chosen as one of the top 5-6 high schools in the U.S. for its strong music program.<o:p></o:p></span></p><p class=MsoPlainText><span style='font-size:11.0pt;font-family:"Calibri","sans-serif"'><o:p> </o:p></span></p><p class=MsoPlainText><span style='font-size:11.0pt;font-family:"Calibri","sans-serif"'>Although the award is directly to the DHS Music Department, the award really represents the dedication and talent at all levels that support the high school program.<o:p></o:p></span></p><p class=MsoPlainText><span style='font-size:11.0pt;font-family:"Calibri","sans-serif"'><o:p> </o:p></span></p><p class=MsoPlainText><span style='font-size:11.0pt;font-family:"Calibri","sans-serif"'>DHS was chosen based on the number of students who participate in music, the breadth of the program, and its participation in events locally, regionally and statewide. After making an initial first round cut, the DHS Music Department was invited to submit recorded excerpt selections from its choirs, bands and orchestras to compare against other HS programs.<o:p></o:p></span></p><p class=MsoPlainText><span style='font-size:11.0pt;font-family:"Calibri","sans-serif"'><o:p> </o:p></span></p><p class=MsoPlainText><span style='font-size:11.0pt;font-family:"Calibri","sans-serif"'>The DHS Music Dept. will receive a plaque, certificate, and a cash award. A formal presentation may be made at a May school board meeting.<o:p></o:p></span></p><p class=MsoPlainText><span style='font-size:11.0pt;font-family:"Calibri","sans-serif"'><o:p> </o:p></span></p><p class=MsoPlainText><span style='font-size:11.0pt;font-family:"Calibri","sans-serif"'>This is the second time that DHS has received this award.
