The Victoria Day Parade was this morning and almost everyone was out of the hotel and saw at least some of the 3 hours of bands (mostly from Seattle), floats, fire trucks, clowns, etc. An old fashion parade. I particularly enjoyed the Victoria High School band with the blue plaid blazers. Nice.<o:p></o:p></p></div><div><p class=MsoNormal> <o:p></o:p></p></div><div><p class=MsoNormal>We had a great and appreciative audience for our final concert on the steps of the Parliament. First Jazz Band then Combined Band, one hour each. Those Jazz Band kids must have great lips to sustain such strong performances back to back. I chatted with a few people in the audience-one was a fellow from Romania who heard our band from his office window and had to come out and hear the live music that his Dad used to sing to him and another was a pleasant older woman who thought it was wonderful that kids these days still learn and perform all different types of music. The guards at the capital told John Horn that they had heard every band all weekend and we were by far the best. :)<o:p></o:p></p></div><div><p class=MsoNormal> <o:p></o:p></p></div><div><p class=MsoNormal>After the concert the instruments and big suitcases were packed on the truck and are heading back to Davis. A huge thanks to the 2 Dads that volunteered for this important and long assignment.<o:p></o:p></p></div><div><p class=MsoNormal> <o:p></o:p></p></div><div><p class=MsoNormal>We had our final group dinner in the hotel. John Horn made a slide show using pictures from the many cameras that captured our adventures. Some students made up and presented a number of fun awards like the lumberjack, the helpful, the twosome... pretty funny I just can't remember most at this late hour.<o:p></o:p></p></div><div><p class=MsoNormal> <o:p></o:p></p></div><div><p class=MsoNormal>We had a nice sweaty dance attended by about 1/2 students; everyone else was in the pool or hanging out in the hotel. Hope the night chaperones have a quiet night. The hotel commented that we have been a great group and they would love to have us back.<o:p></o:p></p></div><div><p class=MsoNormal> <o:p></o:p></p></div><div><p class=MsoNormal>Tomorrow we check out in the morning and hop on our first ferry that is an hour and half long (with a good chance of seeing whales!) to a bus then a second ferry about 20 minutes into Seattle, then to airplanes then to drivers home. A true transportation day! We will see you tomorrow (Tuesday) night and hopefully at the Pops Concert on Wed. night in the park.
