AP Testing Schedule: Monday, May 3, 2010: Gov't/Politics: US in IPAB @ 8:00AM and French Language in Lib West @ 12:00PM

TODAY  
	*	Hey DHS! Did you know that the DHS Climate Committee has a sister school in Ohaka, Bangladesh? Here is a chance for our school to reach out to students and help them out by sending out supplies! Starting TODAY, there will be boxes in your 4th period classrooms. Please bring supplies including pencils, erasers, notebooks, crayons and other supplies listed on the box to help these kids out!

	*	Come see the Drama Department's last show of the year, "Out on a Limb". Join us for an evening of capitalism, creationism, unicorns, dead raccoons, ducks, space mountain and much more. Shows run TODAY and May 5th-7th all at 7pm. Don't miss out! Be there or be triangular!

	*	There is a CSF general meeting TODAY at lunch in P-13. CSF Seniors: Check the window of P-13 for your membership status, before May 7th and see Mrs. O'Brien for scholarship information.

	*	TODAY, the DHS Blue Devil Boys' lacrosse team is hosting a "Break the Record" night at Halden Field.  The Blue Devils will be paying a tough squad from Piedmont High in a game with playoff seeding implications.  Admission is free, and halftime entertainment at the varsity game will be provided by the DHS Dance Team.  The Blue Devils will recognize the seniors in a pre-game ceremony, then it's down to business.  If you already are a lacrosse fan, this is a great opportunity to see hard hitting competition between two talented teams.  If you've not yet seen a lacrosse game, come find out what all the buzz is about, and see why youth lacrosse is now the fastest growing sport on the West Coast.

	*	Yup, you heard right! Car Show apps are extended to TODAY. Pick them up now! They are due back in the front office.

	*	The Ultimate Senior Concert for the Concert and Symphonic Bands is Tuesday, May 4th at 7:30 in the Richard Brunelle Performing Arts Theatre. Plan on a delightful evening of excellent music and entertainment as the Concert Band performs the famous Heartland Sketches, Newfoundland Folk Song and Beyond the Summit. The Symphonic Band will perform the rousing multi-movement Scottish Battle piece called Culloden, recalling the incredible battle that occurred here on April 16, 1746. (Check out websites to learn more of the history.)  This will be followed by the favorite Reprising Cartoon piece, where cartoons are shown on the large screen while the Band plays an overture of well-known cartoon music. This will be an event not to be missed.

	*	Hey, DHS Science Experts...we are not content with merely winning the National Championship in the Science League Chemistry competition last year.  We want to repeat the feat, and also be champions in physics and biology as well!  If you want to help, come to S-5 on Monday at lunch to take the Biology exam, come to S-11 or S-12 on Thursday 5/6 at lunch to take the Physics exam, and come to S-8 at lunch on Friday next week, to take the Chemistry exam.  Go Blue Devils for a Scientific Sweep hat trick!

	*	The games are about to begin so come one come all to the informational meeting about clash of the classes on Tuesday, May 4th, at lunch in C-4 to see what's going down!

	*	Attention Students! If you haven't bought your yearbook yet, and you are interested, we will be selling books outside of room A-7 at lunch for the next few weeks. Checks may be made payable to DHS Yearbook for $80. Don't miss out on this amazing book!

	*	There will be an Honor Society meeting on Monday, May 3rd, at lunch, in room S-12. We will be discussing senior scholarships and cords for graduation, so seniors, please be there.

	*	If you are planning to go to Summer School, please submit your application to your counselor ASAP!

	*	Attention Seniors! The deadline to turn in a Graduation Speech to Mr. Dietrich has been extended to May 3rd, at 3:30PM. Auditions will be held on May 10th at lunch in S-7. Speeches should be around 3 minutes. Good luck!

	*	Lake Tahoe Community College is offering it's popular "Intensive Spanish Summer Institute" again this year!  Students can earn units of credit in courses designed to promote the development of fluency in Spanish.  This week-long course is scheduled for August 8-13 and will include all levels of the Spanish language, along with several breakout sessions from cooking to art, dancing and music, history and holidays, family customs and celebrations, etc.  High school students and adults are welcome to apply.  The program fills up fast, so come to the Scholarship and Financial Aid Office soon for more information!

	*	Davis Rotary is sponsoring a Four-Way Speech Contest!  To participate, high school students prepare a speech on any subject and present it before Rotary judges on May 3.  The first place winner will receive $200, and a chance to compete in a second regional contest on May 12, where the winner will receive $900!  Come to the Scholarship and Financial Aid Office for more information.

	*	SENIORS:  Are you planning to pursue a major or career in Criminal Justice Law Enforcement?  If so, there is a new scholarship available for you!  The Michael Lawrence Rivera Law Enforcement Scholarship is offering $2,500 to students interested in law enforcement.  Come to the Scholarship and Financial Aid Office for an application.

	*	JUNIORS:  The Western Association for College Admission Counseling presents the WACAC Spring 2010 College Fair on Monday, May 3 from 5:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. at the Folsom High School Gym in Folsom.  A college fair is a rare opportunity to meet with college representatives without involving the time and expense of a road trip or plane ride!  Representatives from more than 100 colleges throughout the country will be on hand at this event to speak with students.  Come to the Scholarship and Financial Aid Office for more information.

	*	A local scholarship deadline has been extended!  Davis Musical Theater Company has extended the deadline for its two scholarships!  Scholarships are available for students who have participated in Davis Musical Theater Company or Young Performer's Theater productions.  The deadline to apply is May 14.  Applications are available in the Scholarship and Financial Aid Office.

	*	The Davis Schools Foundation is sponsoring a Student Video Contest.  Judges are looking for students to creatively demonstrate why supporting Davis Schools Foundation  (DSF) is important. Videos can be musical, a skit, humorous, serious and should focus on some awesome activities or programs in Davis schools that funding from DSF will help to save. Winners will receive $100 Target gift cards and winning videos will also be posted on You Tube and the DSF website. Students who do not have access to video equipment can use facilities and equipment at Davis Media Access. The deadline is May 7th.
