February 11, 1990 Nelson Mandela released from prison.
Nelson Mandela, leader of the movement to end South African apartheid, is released from prison after 27 years on February 11, 1990.

REMINDER

1. Students, please be reminded that you cannot leave campus without checking out with the attendance office. If you do it will be noted on your attendance record that you left without permission.

2. C.S.F. (California Scholarship Federation Inc.) registration will be all next week at lunch in P-13. You must bring $5 and your 1st semester report card. Hour sheets are due at time of registration. New members are welcome. Need more information look for us on Facebook at DHS/CSF!

3. Students, if you are planning to go on college visits and will be missing school time, have your parents write a note at least several days prior to the visit to get it excused. Otherwise, it will be noted as a personal absence and unexcused. They need to turn the note into the Attendance office for the administrator's approval.

NEW

1. February 14th to February 18th, Davis FFA is celebrating National FFA week.  Davis FFA will spend the week in celebration of agriculture and youth leadership. As part of the celebration and fun, Davis FFA will hold a series of activities each day at lunch. We kick off the celebration Monday with free food and Agriculture Mechanics displays. There will be hay bale relays, games and fun all week. The Grand Finale is announcing the Kiss the Pig Winner where the teacher/administrator you "vote" for kisses a pig in the quad. Come join us at lunch for food, friends, and fun!

2. Parents and students are also welcome to join us for special program explaining AP/honors and ROP courses on February 16 (Wednesday) from 5:30 pm to 6:30 pm in the North Gym at DSHS.

3. Come and support the DHS bands at the Pizza Fundraiser at the West Davis Lamppost Pizza Tuesday, February 15, 4-9 pm. Please mention the band fundraiser when you place your order.

4. The EAP test will be held Wednesday, March 2nd in the Old Gym before school. Information with a sign-up sheet was mailed home this week. Please sign up quickly, the final date to turn in your permission slip is Friday February 18th!

5. CAML Test #5 is on Tuesday, February 15 at lunch in any math room. This is the second to last CAML Test extra credit opportunity. Ask you math teacher about extra credit.

6. Students Random Club applications are in the office to pick up. If you have a burning passion to do crazy stuff, JOIN Random Club!! Applications must be turned into N-10.

TODAY

1. Cafeteria: Pizza, sandwich, pear chutney chicken over organic rice, Italian sausage with polenta, cheeseburger soup.

2. Seniors: A diploma order form list has been completed. Please come to the front office to confirm the spelling of your name as it will appear on the diploma. The deadline to do this is Friday, February 11. Diplomas will be ordered according to list after that date.

3. Attention all math and science tutors. There is a meeting this Friday during lunch in S-9! All sophomores who turned in applications last week must come.

1. SENIORS: IF Mid-Year Reports are needed for private and out of state colleges, place your transcript requests at the counseling office counter. The first six transcripts are free -a processing fee of $2.00 for each additional transcript is due upon request. Common Applications do not need envelopes-you are still required to place an order. Bring in an: addressed, stamped envelopes for all other requests.
