THIS DAY IN HISTORY
-On this day in 1867, the first stock ticker is unveiled in New York City. The advent of the ticker ultimately revolutionized the stock market by making up-to-the-minute prices available to investors around the country. Prior to this development, information from the New York Stock Exchange, which has been around since 1792, traveled by mail or messenger.

COLLEGE VISITS - Prior to attending the college visit, students must go to their class and check in with their teachers. Only students who have pre-registered in Naviance will be able to attend the college visit. Only 11th/12th graders may attend a college visit.

-CAML Test #2 will be held in any math classroom on Tuesday November 15 during lunch. Ask your math teacher about extra credit.

-Do you like the beach, volunteering, the ocean, or food? If you answered yes to one, all, or none of these questions, then you should join the Ocean Conservation Club! Meetings are held every Tuesday at lunch in room S-2. Plenty of food is provided for all who attend. Can't wait to see you there!

-Hey Baby Koalas and Kangaroos! If you would like to attend the next Friendship Day on Friday December 2,
please come and sign-up on Tuesday, November 15 in the quad at lunch time.

-The annual DHS Jazz Band "Jazz Extravaganza" will be held Friday, November 18 at 7:30pm in Brunelle Theatre. This is the 26th year for this concert and will feature guest saxophonist and educator, Mary Fettig. Donations at the door: $8 general; $6 student/senior; $20 family.

-Want to hang out with friends, get free popcorn and have a good time? Come to the DHS Movie Night on Tuesday, November 29 (first Tuesday after break!). The movie "Yes Man" will be shown in Mr. Reilly's room   P-10 at 6:00pm. See you there!

-Hey Seniors! Rent-A-Senior applications are available in room C-04 for ANY senior interested in being rented at the event on December 8. Applications are due this Friday, November 18 so make sure to pick up yours and get it turned in!

-Come cheer the DHS Boys and Girls Basketball teams as they take on the alumni players at the Second Annual Alumni Games on Saturday, November 26. The DHS varsity girls play the alumni women at 2:00pm followed by the JV boys vs. older alumni men at 3:15pm and varsity boys vs. younger alumni men at 4:30pm. New this year is the men's alumni vs alumni game at 5:45pm featuring players from even numbered years of graduation vs. those graduates from odd numbered years. -VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY:  Korematsu Elementary School needs volunteers for its Winter Craft Fair.  Students are needed to help children at craft tables and sell treats during the event.  The fair will be held on Saturday, November 19th from 9pm - 3pm in Korematsu's MPR. Contact Rebecca at fundraising at kpto.org<mailto:fundraising at kpto.org> or come to the Career Center in N-17 for more information.

-Ever wondered what it's like to be a college student?  Dorms, homework, professors, majors?  The Academic Center will hold a College Student Panel where current UCD students will answer all of your college-life related questions. This event will take place on Wednesday, November 16 during lunch in the Academic Center Room M-2.

-Seniors:  Show all your fellow classmates how cute you were as a kindergartner! Bring in a wallet sized (2x3) photo for the Kindergarten Wall at Grad Night. Drop box is located at the DHS Front Desk.

-Attn: Seniors- If you would like to order a copy of the Senior Panoramic-Group-Photo, order forms are in the office. Please turn-in your check and order forms to Mrs. Thomsen in C-3 or in the office by Wednesday, November 16.

-Save the date - our first blood drive of the year will be Friday, Dec. 2.  You must be a minimum of 16 years old to donate.  More details to follow.

-JOB OPPORTUNITY:  The City of Davis is looking for Junior Basketball Coaches and Officials.  The 7-week program begins on January 16 and teaches basic basketball fundamentals and skills to boys and girls in 3rd - 9th grades.  Applicants must be at least 15 years old, have knowledge of basketball rules and fundamentals, and be able to work with children.  Apply online at www.cityofdavis.org, or come to the Career Center in N-17 for more information.

-Canned Food Drive: The canned food drive runs from November 9 - 18. Bring non-perishables to your 4th period classes for a chance to win a Chipotle Burrito Party!
