DAY IN HISTORY
-1620:  The Mayflower sails from Plymouth, England, bound for the New World with 102 passengers. The ship was headed for Virginia, however, stormy weather and navigational errors forced the Mayflower off course and on November 21 the "Pilgrims" reached Massachusetts, where they founded the first permanent European settlement in New England in late December.

- CSF registration has started! From now until Thursday, September 22 go to room P-13 during lunch to become a CSF member. Bring your spring semester report card (NOT a printout) or transcript, $5 application fee and your completed application form. See you all there!

-It's that time of year to volunteer! National Honor Society registration begins Wednesday, September 14. Please bring your ID card and transcript. Returning members should also bring their hour sheets from last year. Registration will take place in front of room S-12 during lunch through September 22. See you there!

-Seniors! It is time to tell your parents about yearbook senior ads. Please give them the packet that you received at the senior assembly today or go to www.dhsyearbook.wordpress.com<http://www.dhsyearbook.wordpress.com> to download the forms.

-REMINDER to parents:
--Please do not use the staff parking lot on 14th Street for student pick up or drop off. Vehicles without a parking permit will be ticketed.
--Please do not use handicapped parking spaces in any of the parking lots for student pick up or drop off.
--Students may be dropped off in the Vet's Memorial parking lot, the stadium parking lot on Oak St. or in the drop off zone in front of DHS on 14th St.

-Davis Senior High School is seeking a parent/community member to serve on the School Site Council for the 2011-2012 school year.  The School Site Council discusses ways to improve student achievement and meets at Davis Senior High School on the fourth Thursday of each month at 3:00.   If you are interested in applying to serve, please contact Vice Principal Tom McHale at tmchale at djusd.net<mailto:tmchale at djusd.net>

-Attention all Math and Science Tutors, there will be a meeting Monday, September 19 for all new and prospective tutors. Please bring the completed application form with you to room S-09. All returning tutors should turn in their forms to Mr. Van Muyden by September 19.

-Hey everybody! Homecoming is on its way! So let's get ready to show some spirit! Spirit Week kicks off on Monday, September 19 with "Mismatch Monday", "Toy Story Tuesday", "When You Were Young Wednesday", "Thursday Jerseday" and "Freakishly Blue Friday". There will be a spirit King & Queen who win each day, so make sure you participate!

-Davis Senior High School's Scholarship and Financial Aid Office has a new name and a new location!  The office will now be called the "Career Center" and is located in the N-17 portable building behind the IPAB. The Career Center provides support and resources for students interested in colleges, scholarships, financial aid, jobs, volunteer and internship opportunities, summer activities, study abroad programs and military options. Students and parents are welcome to visit during office hours Monday - Friday from 8:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. We look forward to assisting Davis Senior High School students as they prepare for life after high school!  Come by on Monday to see what we have to offer!

-Patwin & Korematsu Elementary Schools are recruiting cabin leaders for Outdoor Ed at Walker Creek, Nov. 29-Dec. 2  Students can pick-up applications at the DHS office. Forms are due by Oct. 7.
