DAY IN HISTORY
-1946: The first annual Cannes Film Festival opens at the resort city of Cannes on the French Riviera. The festival had intended to make its debut in September 1939, but the outbreak of World War II forced the cancellation of the inaugural Cannes.

-Hey Juniors! Curious about the SAT, ACT, scholarships and Walker Creek? Want to learn more about these and other events from seniors who have personally experienced them? Then come to the Junior year presentation hosted by the Blue Devil Club on Tuesday, September 20 at lunch in room N-16. There will be food!

-Hey Sophomores! Want to learn about the PSAT, how to get to know your counselors and information about AP classes? Want to figure out how to make sophomore year look good for colleges? Then come to the sophomore year presentation hosted by the Blue Devil Club on Tuesday, September 20 at lunch in room N-10. There will be food!

- Join CSF!  These are the last 3 days of registration for the CSF Fall Semester.  Go to Ms. O'Brien's room, P-13 with your completed pink registration form, $5.00 and your grade report.  Be sure to come because registration ends promptly at the end of lunch this Thursday!

-It's that time of year to volunteer! National Honor Society registration continues this week at lunch through Thursday, September 22. Bring your ID card, last semester grades, $5 and your hour sheet if you are a continuing member. We will continue registration in front of room S-12. See you there!

-Hola Amigos!  The Latinos Unidos Club meeting room has changed to A-5.  Our second meeting will be Tuesday, September 20.  See you all there!

-Do you love competition and math?  Then come to Mu Alpha Theta's first math competition this Thursday in
Mr. Ronning's room, N-15!

-Workouts for the DHS Men's Basketball program have changed:  VARSITY: Mondays 3-5:30pm, Tuesdays 3-5pm, Wednesdays 3 - 5pm and Thursdays 2:30 - 5pm, Friday 6 - 7 am & 2 - 3:30 pm, Saturday 10:30 - 12pm. JV and Freshman:  Mondays 5 - 7:15pm, Wednesdays 5 - 7:15 pm and Thursdays 5 - 7:15 pm. . If you are interested in playing this year and not participating in a DHS fall sport you are expected to attend. -REMINDER to parents:
--Please do not use the staff parking lot on 14th Street for student pick up or drop off. Vehicles without a parking permit will be ticketed.
--Please do not use handicapped parking spaces in any of the parking lots for student pick up or drop off.
--Students may be dropped off in the Vet's Memorial parking lot, the stadium parking lot on Oak St. or in the drop off zone in front of DHS on 14th St.

-Seniors! It is time to tell your parents about yearbook senior ads. Please give them the packet that you received at the senior assembly or go to www.dhsyearbook.wordpress.com<http://www.dhsyearbook.wordpress.com> to download the forms.

-Davis Senior High School is seeking a parent/community member to serve on the School Site Council for the 2011-2012 school year.  The School Site Council discusses ways to improve student achievement and meets at Davis Senior High School on the fourth Thursday of each month at 3:00. -Davis Senior High School's Scholarship and Financial Aid Office has a new name and a new location!  The office will now be called the "Career Center" and is located in the N-17 portable building behind the IPAB. The Career Center provides support and resources for students interested in colleges, scholarships, financial aid, jobs, volunteer and internship opportunities, summer activities, study abroad programs and military options. Students and parents are welcome to visit during office hours Monday - Friday from 8:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. We look forward to assisting Davis Senior High School students as they prepare for life after high school!  Come by on Monday to see what we have to offer!
