TODAY

-For Lunch today we have Blue Devil BBQ Hamburger, Hot Dog or Veggie Pattie on whole wheat bun, served with grilled veggies or oven fries.


-Are you interested in Japan?  Then come to the first meeting of Japanese Culture Club in Room S-6 today, September 4 during lunch.  See you there!


-If you are interested in learning about African culture, join the Black Student Union.  The BSU will meet today, September 4th during lunch in Room P-23.  Anyone can join!  Bring your lunch and the first 10 people who come will get a treat!



-Latinos Unidos first meeting of the year will be on today, September 4 at lunch in O-5.  Everyone is welcomed for those interested in Latin American culture!



-Audition for the DHS Drama fall musical 'Avenue Q' today, September 4 at a mandatory workshop.  For more information, come to P-11, the drama room.





NEW

-There is no such thing as enough math!  Come join the DHS Mu Alpha Theta Math Club.  We have competitions, we spread math in the community and most of all, we have fun!  The first meeting is on Thursday, September 6th during lunch in Mr. Ronning's room N-05.  Hope to see you there!



-CSF Registration begins.  Be sure to come out and register for the most prominent community service club on Campus.  Registration will take place September 10-21 during lunch in Room P-13.  Please bring your pink CSF Membership Application form, $5.00, your last semester's grade report and last semester's completed hour sheet.  See you then!



-Interested in being a cabin leader for Korematsu's 6th grade Outdoor Education program.  Cabin leaders are needed for their trip to Walker Creek Ranch on November 26-30.  Cabin leaders must work well with children and have an outgoing personality with an enthusiasm for the outdoors.  If interested, please come to the Career Center for an application.  Applications must be submitted to Korematsu Elementary School by September 27.



-It's college visit time!  Colleges and universities from across the country will be visiting Davis Senior High School's Career Center N-17 this fall to meet with interested students.  The schedule of visits is posted outside the Career Center N-17 and on Naviance.  Students must sign up on Naviance prior to attending a college visit and check out with the teacher before leaving class for the college visit.  If you need help with your Naviance account, come to the Career Center or see your counselor.



-Juniors, are you interested in a career in law enforcement?  If so, you are invited to apply to the FBI's Fall 2012 Teen Academy.  This one day Academy will be held at the Sacramento FBI field office on November 30 from 8:00 am - 5:00 pm.  Fun and educational FBI related presentations and experiences will take place during the event.  Deadline to apply is Monday, October 29.  Come to the Career Center for an application.

CONTINUED
-Do you love community service?  Then come to the very first Key Club meeting of the year this Wednesday, September 5th in Room S-12 at lunch.  The Key Club is a lot of fun and a great way to give back all year long!  Food will be provided!

-The Model United Nations Club would like to invite all interested students to their first meeting of the year.  Students who want to be involved in planning and are interested in leadership positions this year must sign up at this meeting. The meeting is Wednesday at lunch in P-25.  Join us if you would like to explore other countries' perspectives, discuss World problems and try with high schoolers from around the world to find solutions.  Check out this travelling club at lunch Wednesday in P-25.  See you!


-Welcome back to school! The Academic Center has tutors who can help you with homework, essays and projects.  Computers and most textbooks are available for your use. Come check us out in room M-2.

-If your student would like to visit a college during a school day, it is important that you submit a note to the Attendance Office in advance of the absence requesting that the absence be excused.  College visits may be excused per administrator's discretion.  Please included in the note, the name of the student, the date of the visit and the name of the college.

-Davis Media Access is offering a four-month non-paid internship where students will gain hands-on experience and exposure to many aspects of community television production.  The internship will take place from September 18 - January 23.  Applications are due by September 5.  Come to the Career Center for an application soon!


-The DHS AVID Family Reunion will be held Thursday, September 6th at 7:00 am in Mr. Curley's room O-4.  ALL STUDENTS, including their friends and family who support our AVID program are welcomed.  Breakfast snacks, coffee and juice will be provided!



-Hey Blue Devils!  If you ordered school picture packets, your photos are in and available from the Career Center (NCC) which is behind P-20.  Please come and pick them up!


-All students: Please make sure to use your assigned locker; otherwise, your lock will be cut.  If your lock is cut, you can pick up your books and personal items in the attendance office.  The attendance office will keep your things for only two days.  After that, all textbooks will be returned to the library and any personal items will be placed in the lost and found. Please use your assigned locker. If you do not have a locker and would like to have one, please go to the attendance office at lunch.


-Davis Senior High School's Career Center is open!  The Career Center provides student support and resources for college planning, scholarships, financial aid, jobs, volunteer opportunities, summer activities, test preparation, study abroad programs, and more!  Students and parents are welcome to visit the Career Center located in N-17 behind the theater Monday - Friday from 8:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

-The City of Davis is offering their annual fall tour of four northern California universities!   The first tour is San Francisco State University on September 15.  Additional tours are scheduled for Stanford, Chico State and Berkeley.  Trips are $65 and include transportation, college tour, and lunch.  Come to the Career Center in N-17 for more information.
