1964 - In Oslo, Norway, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. received the Nobel Peace Prize. He was the youngest person to receive the award.



ATHLETICS

Attention Track and Field Athletes!  If you are a new or returning track and field athlete not participating in a DHS Winter sport, you should attend pre-season track workouts, Monday through Thursday at 4:00 pm.  Visit Coach Elliott in L-25 for more information.



LUNCH CHOICE:  Pasta or Pizza!  Pizza choice: Veggie, Pepperoni, Cheese, BBQ Chicken Pizza.  Pasta is Whole Wheat Alfredo.



TODAY

The next meeting of the Teen Health Awareness Club is today, Monday at lunch in room S-5. Come try a healthy snack and help plan springtime activities and speakers.



Buenos Dias!  Today is a great day to be a part of Latinos Unidos.  Come to room O-5 at lunch for fun activities and information.  We will discuss plans for a new mural on campus!



NEW

Devils, are you looking for a fun way to wish someone a Happy Holidays?  Holiday Grams are being sold for $1 at the finance office all this week at lunch!  It comes with a note and a candy cane!



If you want breakfast from Noah's Bagels, come to Freedom From Hunger's Shoe Drive for STEAC on Wednesday, 12/12/12 from 7:45 to when school starts in Ms. Neagley's room L-21!  Bring a pair of new or gently used shoes and we will give you a bagel from Noah's!



Home for the Holidays Concert! On December 20, 2012 at 7:00 pm, the Davis Schools Arts Foundation is presenting the 10th Annual Home for the Holidays Concert at the Veterans Memorial Theater featuring Joe Crave, Little Charlie Baty's Caravan, Rita Hosking with Cousin Jack, Chris Webster and Tracy Walton of Mumbo Gumbo in a trio with Bill Edwards, White Ginger Lei, Frank Fox's Holiday Doo-Wop, Voice of the Wood and the Davis High School Jazz Choir with special guests.   Tickets are available at Watermelon Music, 207 E Street and at Armadillo Music, 205 F Street.  Tickets are $20 for adults and $8 for children under 18.  Come support Davis Schools and enjoy wonderful music!

CAML test #3 is on Tuesday December 11 at lunch.  Limited seating available.  The test will be given at lunch in any math classroom.  Anyone late to the testing will not be provided the opportunity to take the CAML for extra credit.  Ask your math teacher if you have any questions.



If you have a loved one serving in the military overseas, Student Government wants to send them a care package to say thank you for their service.  Please turn in their APO addresses to Mr. Morgan in C-4.  The deadline to get the APO address to Mr. Morgan is December 21.  If you want to donate care package items, the deadline will be January 7.



INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITY: Internship opportunities are available at the Davis Flea Market. Internships include outreach, marketing, entertainment, design, event management, social media and documentation. The Davis Senior High School Winter Choral Concert will be held on Tuesday, December 11 at 7:00 pm at the Brunelle Performance Hall.  The Advanced Treble Choir, Concert Choir, Jazz Choir and Madrigal Singers will present an array of holiday selections for all to enjoy.   The concert is free and open to the public!



Anyone considering AP Art Studio for next year should come to an informational meeting in A-1 on Friday, December 14 at the beginning of lunch.



Calling all dodge ball players! Applications to start your own dodge ball intra-mural team are available today in C-4.  Turn completed applications into C-4 by December 14! There is a mandatory captains meeting on December 14 to go over rules and regulations.  Can't wait to see you there!

Attention All DHS Instrumental Soloists - This year's annual DHS Orchestra Concerto Competition is being held Wednesday, January 9, 2013 at 7:00 pm on stage in the DHS Brunelle Performance Hall.  It is open to all DHS instrumentalists.  The winner of this competition will be given the honor of performing with the DHS Symphony Orchestra at the Mondavi Center in Jackson Hall at the Wennberg Music  Festival on Saturday, March 23, 2013 at 3:00 pm as well as a check for $300!  A sign-up sheet and informational flyer will be on the window of the computer lab in PA-3.  Deadline to sign up is December 21st.   Also, you must email Mr. Moreno after you sign up at amoreno at djusd.net<mailto:amoreno at djusd.net>.  In your email, please provide your name, instrument and the name of your piece.
