SPORTS PHYSICAL PAPERWORK NIGHTS:  October 23 & 24: 6-8pm in the North Gym lobby. Turn in your completed paperwork and receive your athletic clearance card to present to your Winter coach on the first day of tryouts.

**If your student participated in a Fall sport, their concussion testing and paperwork clears them for the whole school year. If they choose to participate in a Winter sport, they need to come by the DHS Athletics Office or come to the paperwork night to pick up a copy of their clearance and emergency cards to give to the Winter coach.

-For Lunch today we have Wednesday Rice Bowl day with choice of Teriyaki Chicken, Teriyaki Beef or Tofu Teriyaki all served with farm fresh vegetables over steamed local rice.

-The DHS Climate Committee will meet this Wednesday in the West Classroom of the Library at 2:45.  Please join us and help make DHS a more welcome school for all students.



-Expression Through Writing Club will meet this Wednesday, October 10th at lunch in Room P-20.  Come join us as we explore creative writing.  Can't wait to see you there!



-Come and join the Black Student Union club for some ice cream at their 1st Annual Ice Cream Social this Wednesday, October 10th in the Quad at 3:00 pm!  It's $1 per scoop and there will be friendship bracelets for sale for $2 each.  Bring your money and a friend to enjoy some delicious ice cream!



-Juan Melendez spent 17 years, 8 months and 1 day on Florida's death row for a crime he did not commit.  He is coming to Davis High School to speak of his experience.  Come to the IPAB on October 10th at 12:15 during lunch to hear him speak.  Food or drinks are not allowed in the IPAB.

-Monday, October 15 will kick off Spirit Week with a Homecoming Rally with the following changes to the schedule.

1st Period             7:45-8:30

2nd Period            8:36-9:24

Students Report to Homerooms after 2nd Period and will be escorted to the Rally.

-Homecoming is almost here!  On Friday, October 19, the DHSH Library, Career Center and Administrative Office will close at 12:48 pm to allow staff to take part in the Homecoming Festivities.



-Get your tickets at lunch on the Quad this week for EVERYBODY DANCE NOW!, the Jazz Choir's third annual dance competition.  The show is this Saturday, 7:00 at the IPAB/Brunelle Music Theatre.  Watch your classmates compete for cash prizes!  Tickets are $5 for students, $8 for adults.  At the door, tickets are $10.  The

-Hey CSFers! We have another general meeting this coming Friday during lunch in Ms. O'Brien's room, P-18.  Be sure to come and learn about some community service events!  See you there!



-Have you ever wondered if there is more to life than being really ridiculously good looking?  Turn in your permission slips for Friendship Day by Thursday, October 11 so you can come to Friendship Day and find out!



-Please join us for a UNICEF meeting this Friday October 12 in room P-20 at lunch.

-Congratulations to the following students for pursuing victory with honor at the Davis vs. Jesuit soccer game: Connal, Brett, Aidan, Kevin, Paul and Brendan.  Great job supporting your team with victory!



-Attention Juniors:  Signups for the PSAT are this week at lunch ONLY in the Large Conference Room.  The test is on Saturday, October 20th from 7:45 to 11:30 am.  The cost is only $24.00 and checks must be made payable to DHS or Davis Senior High.  You must bring your photo ID to sign up and to take the test.  10th graders may sign up on Friday at lunch only.


-Students: would you like to nominate a friend, club or group to be featured in the yearbook?  If you know someone with an interesting story, please email their name, grade and a 1-2 sentence description to Mrs. Thomsen in C-3.



-Attention all Seniors! Remind your parents that Yearbook Senior Ad due dates are around the corner!  1/8 page ads are due October 19, ¼ page ads and ½ page ads are due November 16th. -Korematsu Elementary and Patwin Elementary still need high school boys and girls to be cabin leaders at Walker Creek Outdoor Ed camp for the week of Nov. 26-30. We are looking for more 10th, 11th and 12th grade leaders to join us that week. Please pick up applications at the Career Center and submit them to Korematsu Elementary by Wednesday, October 10.



-The DHS Band Boosters and volunteers from the DHS Band students are selling tickets for a raffle.  The Grand prize is the very popular Google Nexus Computer Tablet.  Other cool prizes being raffled are tickets to the Mondavi and gift certificates from Best Buy and Yolo Berry.  The drawing will be held during the Davis High School Jazz Band Performance at the Jazz and Beat Festival on 10/20/12 and ticket holders do not have to be present to win. Tickets are $5 each or $20 for 5 tickets.  There are $10 gift certificates for Lamppost Pizza on each raffle ticket as well!  Come and hear the DHS Jazz Band on 10/20/12 at University Commons Plaza at 5:00 pm and maybe win a great prize!
