CONCUSSION BASELINE TESTING:  October 15--5:30, 6:30, 7:30 and October 16--4:00, 5:00, 6:00. (Winter athletes only at these times) Sign up link and permission form available on:  www.davisseniorhigh.net<http://www.davisseniorhigh.net>

SPORTS PHYSICAL PAPERWORK NIGHTS:  October 23 & 24: 6-8pm in the North Gym lobby. Turn in your completed paperwork and receive your athletic clearance card to present to your Winter coach on the first day of tryouts.
**If your student participated in a Fall sport, their concussion testing and paperwork clears them for the whole school year. If they choose to participate in a Winter sport, they need to come by the DHS Athletics Office or come to the paperwork night to pick up a copy of their clearance and emergency cards to give to the Winter coach.

-For Lunch today we have Pizza or Pasta - Choice of Hawaiian (turkey ham or ham and pineapple chunks), Pepperoni with olives, Chicken Ranch, Chicken BBQ or Beef Taco Topping.  Pasta is Whole Wheat with Garlic and Walnut Pesto sauce, Marinara Sauce or Pasta with Vegetables and Beans.


-College Visits Today in the Career Center:  University of Southern California     1:45

NEW

-Volunteers are needed for Korematsu Elementary School's Explorit Science Night on Wednesday, October 24 from 5:30-8:00 pm in Korematsu's MPR.   Volunteers will help elementary students conduct science activities and experiments.  Come to the Career Center or contact Christine Bennetts at president at korematsupto.org<mailto:president at korematsupto.org> for more information.



-Enjoy dinner at the Davis Graduate and raise money for the Blue and White Foundation's Student Activity Grant Program.  On October 17 from 6:00-8:00 pm, present a flyer for dine in or take-out food and the Grad will donate 15% to the Blue & White Foundation.  You can pick up flyers at the Front Desk or in the Career Center.



-The PE sweatshirts and sweatpants are in!  If you did a pre-order, see your teacher with your receipt.   Everyone is welcome to purchase sweats!  They are great as spirit wear!



-Hey Key Clubbers, come to our meeting this Wednesday at lunch in S-12, and after the regular meeting, we will be talking about our trip to Six Flags, so make sure to stay!



-The first CAML Test will be held on Tuesday, October 16 at lunch in any math room.  The CAML Test is a competition between approximately 110 high schools in California to challenge your problem solving skills.   There will be six competitions altogether.  Ask your teacher about extra credit for competing!



-Event and information posting are to be posted on BLUE WALLS ONLY! Not blue doors, garbage cans, drink machines, restrooms but blue walls ONLY! Thank you for your cooperation!



-Please place recycle materials in proper containers which are the cardboard bins near the trash dumpster.  If you don't know where, ask somebody.  Davis Waste Removal will not dump containers with improper materials in them.

-Homecoming is almost here!  On Friday, October 19, the DHSH Library, Career Center and Administrative Office will close at 12:48 pm to allow staff to take part in the Homecoming Festivities.



-The DHS Aeronautical Association will meet Tuesday, October 16th at lunch in Room O-3.  All students are welcome and snacks will be provided.



`-Listen up fellow witches and wizards of DHS!  Next week is Spirit Week!  Monday is House Spirit Day, Tuesday is 'Er' Day, Wednesday is Polyjuice Potion Day, Thursday is Throw-Back Day, Friday is Freakishly Blue Friday.  Dress up and show your Blue Devil Spirit!



-If you would like to come check out the cool clubs, sports and class floats, come to the Hogwarts Homecoming Day Parade!  This fun even takes place on Friday, October 19th (Homecoming Day) at 1:15 pm.  The route begins on 4th and C Streets and ends at Oak Street.  Hope to see you there!


-CABIN LEADER'S are needed for North Davis Elementary School's trip to Walker Creek on January 7-11. Cabin leaders must work well with children, and have an outgoing personality with an enthusiasm for the outdoors. Come to the Career Center for an application. Applications must be submitted to North Davis by October 30.



-Students: would you like to nominate a friend, club or group to be featured in the yearbook?  If you know someone with an interesting story, please email their name, grade and a 1-2 sentence description to Mrs. Thomsen in C-3.



-Attention all Seniors! Remind your parents that Yearbook Senior Ad due dates are around the corner!  1/8 page ads are due October 19, ¼ page ads and ½ page ads are due November 16th. -The DHS Band Boosters and volunteers from the DHS Band students are selling tickets for a raffle.  The Grand prize is the very popular Google Nexus Computer Tablet.  Other cool prizes being raffled are tickets to the Mondavi and gift certificates from Best Buy and Yolo Berry.  The drawing will be held during the Davis High School Jazz Band Performance at the Jazz and Beat Festival on 10/20/12 and ticket holders do not have to be present to win. Tickets are $5 each or $20 for 5 tickets.  There are $10 gift certificates for Lamppost Pizza on each raffle ticket as well!  Come and hear the DHS Jazz Band on 10/20/12 at University Commons Plaza at 5:00 pm and maybe win a great prize!
