2001 - In the U.S.<http://www.on-this-day.com/us>, four airliners were hijacked and were intentionally crashed. Two airliners hit the World Trade Center, which collapsed shortly after, in New York City, NY<http://www.on-this-day.com/us/ny>. One airliner hit the Pentagon in Washington, DC<http://www.on-this-day.com/us/wa>. Another airliner crashed into a field in Pennsylvania<http://www.on-this-day.com/us/pa>. About 3,000 people were killed.

-Hello DHS. The DHS Car Club will hold its first meeting of the year on Tuesday, Sept 11, in room O-3 at lunch. The DHS Car Club is a club for students interested in cool cars of all shapes and sizes. The club is responsible for planning this year's Devil Day Car Show. It also has some money available for field trips to local race tracks, off campus car shows and car museums. If you love cars, come to the meeting on Tuesday, Sept 11th, in room O-3 and be part of this year's DHS Car Club.



-Come play chess, a game that involves strategy and has been played for hundreds of years.  The Chess Club will have its first meeting this Tuesday, September 11 in Mr. Vasquez's room, L10 at lunch!



LEAD is hosting a new student get-together at the new stadium at lunch on Tuesday, September 11.  Hope to see all the new students there!



-Latinos Unidos will be meeting every Tuesday at lunch in O-5.  There will be food and fun activities.  Everyone is welcome and applications to become a Latinos Unidos officer will be accepted and due on September 18.



NEW

-The DHS Climate Committee will meet this Wednesday, September 12 at 2:45 in the Library West Classroom.  We will set our goals for this year and will discuss ways to improve our school.  Everyone is welcomed!



-CSF Registration has begun!  Please come to Ms. O'Brien's room, P-13 during lunch.   Please bring your pink CSF Membership Application form, $5.00, your Spring 2012 grade report  which you got in the mail and the completed hour sheet.  We look forward to seeing you!



-Come to the first general meeting of the Young Musicians Outreach 2012-1013 tomorrow, September 12 in front of the IPAB.  We welcome any musician capable of vocal or instrumental performance who wants to spread the value of music throughout the community.  Don't miss out on the chance of a being a part of a fabulous music group!



-The Guitar Club meets Thursday at 12:15 in Room P-22.  Bring a guitar and let's jam!



-Freedom from Hunger Club will have its first meeting of the year, Wednesday, September 12 in Ms. Neagley's room, L-21.  Come if you are interested in hosting fun events to fundraise for the incredible organization.



-Pop, pop, pop!  If you know how to make a large balloon arch, email Daniel Dutulescu at daniel.dutulescu at gmail<mailto:daniel.dutulescu at gmail> or find him on campus!



-Are you interested in being a Walker Creek Cabin Leader?  If so, cabin leaders are needed for Patwin and Pioneer Elementary Schools.  Please come to the Career Center for an application.



-College visits begin this week!  Come to the Career Center or go on Naviance for the date and time of each college visit.  Students must sign up on Naviance prior to attending a college visit and must check in with their teacher before leaving class to attend a visit.  If you need help with your Naviance account, come to the Career Center or see your counselor.



-Do you want to learn new dance moves and show off your own?   Want to be part of the freestyle performances in the quad?  Come to the Freestyle Club in the dance room at lunch on Thursdays to express yourself through dance, beat box and more!

-Got blood?  Red Cross Club makes a difference!  Come to our first meeting Wednesday, September 12 at lunch in S-1.   There will be snacks!



-Attention Students:  Student MUST check out through the Attendance office before leaving campus (signed green pass will be issued and must check in when he/she returns.



-Would you like your voice to be heard?  Enjoy writing?  Come to Room P-20 for Expression Through Writing Club's first meeting on Wednesday, September 12 during lunch.  This is your chance to express yourself through various forms of creative writing.  Food will be provided.  See you there!



-Calling all dancers!  The Davis High School Jazz Choir is seeking contestants for "Everybody Dance Now!," the choirs third annual dance competition to be held Saturday, October 13 at 7:00 in the DHS Brunelle Theatre.  Grand prize of $150 will be awarded by a panel of three judges and $75 will be awarded by audience vote.  Applications and a $10 application fee are due at 3:00 pm, September 14 at the DHS office or to Mr. Zinn.  Proceeds will help fund the DHS Jazz Choir activities.  All dances styles are welcome! -CSU Application Presentation will be made on Thursday, September 13, 2012 in the Brunelle Theatre from 7:00 - 8:30 pm.  Seniors and parents are invited to attend this presentation made by the Admissions and Outreach office from Sacramento State University.  The application process will be highlighted and there will be an opportunity for questions.  We look forward to seeing you there.


-The City of Davis is offering their annual fall tour of four northern California universities!   The first tour is San Francisco State University on September 15.  Additional tours are scheduled for Stanford, Chico State and Berkeley.  Trips are $65 and include transportation, college tour, and lunch.  Come to the Career Center in N-17 for more information.



-Rinnnng, rinnnng, bbbbrrringg! Looks like a call from Friendship Day!! Turn in your permission slips to attend by tomorrow, Thursday, September 13 to attend!! See you there!


-If you paid to replace a lost ID, please come to the library to pick up your new card.  Students who paid for an ASB card, but were mistakenly given an ID card, bring your ID card and the ASB receipt to the library for a new card.  If you did not get an ID card because you registered late, please bring your "official" schedule to the library to get an ID card.



-It's college visit time!  Colleges and universities from across the country will be visiting Davis Senior High School's Career Center N-17 this fall to meet with interested students.  The schedule of visits is posted outside the Career Center N-17 and on Naviance.  Students must sign up on Naviance prior to attending a college visit and check out with the teacher before leaving class for the college visit.  If you need help with your Naviance account, come to the Career Center or see your counselor.

-If your student would like to visit a college during a school day, it is important that you submit a note to the Attendance Office in advance of the absence requesting that the absence be excused.  College visits may be excused per administrator's discretion.  Please included in the note, the name of the student, the date of the visit and the name of the college.
