Class officer applications are now available in C-4 and are due today, Friday, 2/8 in C-4.  If you are interested in serving as class president, treasurer, secretary, club commission or other offices, please pick up an application.

NEW:  Come celebrate the Chinese New Year in T-3 at a potluck lunch on Tuesday, 2/12 with the Chinese Club!

Interested in shadowing a city council member and taking over their job for a day?  Apply for Youth in Government!  Applications are available in C-4 after the informational meeting, Tuesday, 2/12 at lunch in C-4.

The DHS Blue and White Foundation is currently accepting applications for the Student Activity Grant Program.  The goal of the program is to enhance the high school experience for any current DHS student.  Any DHS student may apply for funding to support curricular or extra-curricular activities including academic conferences, sports training camps, fine art workshops, tutoring, extracurricular school essentials (i.e. costuming, sports equipment, musical instruments), etc.  Applications are reviewed on a case-by- case basis and all grant awards will depend on the merit of the requests, the number of applicants and availability of funding.  The Student Activity Grant Program is for individual students only; applications can be submitted online at www.dhsblueandwhite.org<http://www.dhsblueandwhite.org>. ONGOING/UPCOMING EVENTS:  CSFers, the Spring 2013 registration for CSF begins next week and runs for two weeks.  Come to Ms. O'Brien's room, P-13 during lunch with your completed pink registration sheet (found in the library/front office/P-13), grade report from the mail, hour sheet and $5.  No applications will be accepted after lunchtime on 2/22/13.

Anyone wishing to take AP Art Studio next year must submit their portfolio to any Art Teacher by Friday, February 15th.

Reminder!  The DHS Auto Shop Oil Changes and General Service Program can service your car with excellent work by DHS auto students and supervised by Mr. Thayer. Get your oil changed in most cases for under $30 with the highest quality oil change products.   Your vehicle will be treated with the utmost respect and care.

JOB OPPORTUNITY:  The City of Davis has five summer job openings in their aquatics department.  Positions available are lifeguard, pool cashier, snack bar attendant, swim instructor and swim instructor aide. Come to the Career Center for a more information and a flyer for each job.

FFA and the Floral Design class will be holding a Valentine's Day rose sale.  Through the week of 2/4 through 2/8, single rose arrangements with customizable cards will be sold for $3 in the quad at lunch.  Arrangements will be delivered on Valentine's Day during 5th period.


Blue Devils! Come show your love of Valentine's Day and buy a Valentine Gram at the Finance Office at lunch until 2/13.  For $1, you will get a card and a piece of seasonal candy!

Love to sing?  Check out the outstanding vocal music program at DHS next year (even if at Da Vinci).  One opportunity is the Advanced Treble Choir directed by Dr. Karen Gardias.   If you would like to learn more about the All-Treble Choir, please come to an informational tea this Saturday, 2/9 from 1:00 to 2:00 pm. DHS Choir Auditions: 3/18-3/22/13   Audition applications are available on the websites: Advanced Treble Choir www.dhstreblechoir.org<http://www.dhstreblechoir.org>, Jazz Choir www.dhsjazzchoir.org<http://www.dhsjazzchoir.org>.   Madrigals  www.davismadrigals.com<http://www.davismadrigals.com>.  All choir audition applications must be postmarked by Monday, 2/25/13.  The applicants will be notified by email on or before Monday, 3/4.

LECTURE SERIES: Interested in a career in the medical or health professions or just want to take good care of your health?  The Teen Health Awareness Club will host Dr. Amy Chen, a Kaiser pediatrician who will lecture on "Healthy Eating" in S-5 at lunchtime on Wednesday, 2/20.

On Tuesday, 3/19 at lunchtime in S-5, Dr. Eric Fromer will lecture on "Unblemished truths for your skin care."  He will discuss information on skin cancer/melanoma, the impact of tanning, skin aging, acne and other issues like, tattooing, piercing, nail care and rashes.  He is a dermatologist at Vacaville Kaiser.  Healthy snacks will be provided!

The Lecture by Dr. Scott Simon of UC Davis Biomedical Engineering Department presenting : "Innate Immunity: Engineering Your Body's Response to Infection and Inflammation"  has been rescheduled for Tuesday, 2/12/13.

-Please place recycle materials in proper containers which are the cardboard bins near the trash dumpster.  If you don't know where, ask somebody.  Davis Waste Removal will not dump containers with improper materials in them.
