TODAY:   There will be a meeting for all prospective math and science tutors on Monday, March 4 in Mr.  Van Muyden's room, S-8.

Latinos Unidos will be having a general meeting Monday, March 4th in O-5 during lunch.  This meeting  counts towards points needed to go on the San Francisco trip.

HUB applications for business manager, graphic artist and photographer are now available outside L-20 and are due no later than TODAY, 3/4.

Are you kind, compassionate and a good listener? If this is you, consider joining the LEAD team for the 2013-14 school year.  Pick up an application in Mr. Elliott's room L-25.  Applications are due back to Mr. Elliott TODAY, March 4.

NEW:  More Salsa Dancing!  Latinos Unidos is offering more Latin dance on Tuesday at lunch in the dance room

Tickets for the Spring play, 'The Breedless Kitsch' are on sale online at dhsdrama.net.  Student tickets are $8.  Opening night is March 8th at 7:00 pm!  Other performances are March 9, 14th, 15th and 16th at 7:00 pm and Sunday, March 10 at 2:00.

The AP Art Studio acceptance list is posted in all art rooms.  The portfolios may now be picked up!

Want a chance to serve your school, earn community service hours and make your mama proud?  Join the DHS Recycle Club!  Our first meeting will be on Tuesday, March 5th   at lunch in M-1.  Hope to see you there!

Sophomores and Juniors:  Would you like to do research at UC Davis this summer?  The UC Davis Young Scholars Program offers summer research opportunities in biology and the natural sciences for high achieving high school students.  Applications are due April 1.  Come to the Career Center for more information and an application.

ONGOING/UPCOMING EVENTS:  AP is coming!  AP test sales will be held during lunch only Monday, March 11 - Friday, March 15.  You MUST bring your photo ID and cash or check payable to DHS or Davis High.  You may buy online now at the DHS WebStore using debit or credit card. "What's better than The Derek Zoolander Center For Kids Who Can't Read Good and Wanna Learn How to Do Other Stuff Good Too?"  FRIENDSHIP DAY! It's your last chance to come this year so turn in your permission slips by Thursday, March 7 to come to Friendship Day!

Juniors!  Would you like to participate in the all-expense-paid Camp Royal youth leadership camp this summer?  If so, come to O-4 at lunchtime on Tuesday, March 5 to talk to last year's Camp Royal attendees and see a Camp Royal video.  This meeting is sponsored by Davis Interact Group.  Camp Royal is a leadership-training program filled with information, ideas and strategies to help you become a more effective leader.  Applications are available in the Career Center.

Seniors: It's scholarship time!  If you want free money for college, apply for scholarships!  17 scholarships were just added to the Scholarship Bulletin and many are for DHS students only! Come to the Career Center for more information!

Lecture Series:  Interested in the field of Biomedical and Biomedical Engineering, come to the Career Center on Tuesday, March 5 at lunch to hear Dr. Ye Chen-Izu's presentation on "Engineering Solutions to Tackle Heart Disease Mechanisms".  Dr. Chen-Izu will report on the innovative techniques her department is developing to treat heart disease.  Dr. Chen-Izu is an Assistant Professor at the UC Davis Health System Department of Pharmacology.

It's time for The City of Davis' annual So-Cal Safari College Tour for high school students the week of April 4-7 to help teens make the important decision about where to apply.  The tour covers five major universities -   UC Santa Cruz, Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, UC Santa Barbara, University of Southern California and UCLA in Southern California.  The tour cost is $490 and includes transportation, college tours, breakfast, dinner and hotels. Interested in aviation?  The Aerospace Museum of California is sponsoring a 4-day Aerospace Summer Camp for students, ages 13 - 17.  Each participant will take a short flight with a registered pilot! DHS Bands Present "An Evening at Coconut Grove" on Saturday March 9, 2013, in the Emerson MPR, featuring the Davis High School Jazz Band, Harper and DEH (DaVinci, Emerson, and Holmes) Jr. High Jazz Bands, The J Street Jazz Cats, Sax by Popular Demand, and the Crazy Eights, dinner (catered by Dos Coyotes), desserts, tropical mocktails, and silent auction with fabulous prizes.
