THIS DAY IN HISTORY:  1913 - The 16th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution was ratified. It authorized a
graduated income tax.

TODAY'S BLACK HISTORY MONTH CELEBRATION: On February 25, 1948, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., civil
rights activist became an ordained minister.

TODAY:  ATTENTION GRADUATES FROM THE CLASS OF 2014: TODAY, Tuesday, February 25th all
Graduation Ceremony ticket request forms are due!!!! This is the form you received last week during the
assembly.  Every graduate is required to return a completed form.  Additional forms can be picked up in
the Administration office at the front desk.  Please see Mrs. Perez in the Administration office for any
questions.

WOULD YOU LIKE TO LEARN MORE ABOUT SACRAMENTO CITY COLLEGE?  If so, a Sacramento City
College representative will be in the Career Center on Tuesday, February 25th at lunch to answer all
your questions about attending Sac City.

Latinos Unidos officers - We will have a brief meeting TODAY, February 25th in room O-5 at lunch to discuss Open House and World Language Fair!  Senora  Candelario will provide "galletas de Girl Scouts!"

Remember to come to French Club every Tuesday at lunch for activities and fun!

SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT:  Attention, bicycling students!  The Davis Bicycle Club is kindly donating a
limited number of bicycle helmets for students who need them.  We have a sign-up sheet for helmets in
the Career Center.   If you are in need of a helmet, please come to the Career Center!

ACADEMICS/COLLEGE INFO:  Attention Juniors- Friday (2/28) is the last day to sign up for EAP (Early
Assessment Program). If you might be headed to a CSU- this could be a valuable step in your college
journey! If you have questions, please see your counselor or Testing Coordinator immediately.

SENIORS:  March 2 is the deadline to apply for FAFSA and Cal Grants.  Don't miss out on getting free
money for college!  If you have any questions about either of these programs, come to the Career
Center this week!

Attention AP Students: buy your AP tests online at the webstore now! $95/test, no refunds. Check our
website, collegeboard.com or the AP bulletin for the schedule. See the Testing Coordinator for
questions. If you're in need of financial assistance, see your counselor immediately.

Do you want to be a bystander in the game of life or do you want to write your own destiny?  Make
history as a part of the DHS Yearbook team.  Pick up an application in P-21 and submitted by March 7th
for your chance to roll with the lions.

CLUBS/EVENTS:  Café Diablo will be open on Wednesday morning,  February 26th , 7:30 to 8:35 AM.
Come get a goodie and beverage and sit and study or relax before classes start!

There will be a short MSA (Muslim Student Union) meeting on Wednesday, February 26 in P-10 at
lunchtime.

Hey hey heyyyyy! Do you want to learn more about the inspirational life of 2 chairs? Do you want to go
to the world's largest paint party?  Well the next best thing is Friday's informational meeting for people
interested in being Friendship Day Facilitators.  P-14, Friday, February 28th at lunch.  Be there or be a
chair!

Excited to graduate?  Get even more excited! We have Class of 2014 lanyards for only $5.00!  You can
buy them on your way to the Veteran's parking lot every Wednesday at lunch!

This is your last week to register for CSF.  Come to Ms. O'Brien's room, P-13 at lunch with your pink
sheet, first semester grades and $5 to register.  Don't wait until the last minute!

Do you have issues?  Well, the HUB sure does...In fact we have 11 of them!  If you are interested in
photography, graphic art, or web management, pick up an application in O-1 today and help the HUB
make issues for the whole school!  Turn in your application by Wednesday, February 26!

Ever wanted to display your artwork?  If so, Expressionfest is accepting artwork submissions for the
March festival!  Be sure to pick up and submit an application in L-25, Mr. Elliott's room!

Have nothing to do at lunch Wednesday, February 26th?  Well, join the Black Student Union on the quad
for music, face painting, henna tattoos and performances to celebrate Black History Month!  Remember,
it's next Wednesday at lunch on the quad.  See you there!

"An Evening at the Coconut Grove" is at 5:30 p.m. on March 8 at the Emerson Junior High School.
(NOTE: Reservations close on March 3.) Tickets are $40, (students $20). Get 'em while they're still
available.  We sell out every year! Coconut Grove features a silent auction and the award-winning Davis
High School Jazz Band, Sax by Popular Demand, The J Street Jazz Cats, Ten 'Til Midnight, and the Harper
and DEH Jr. High Jazz Bands.  Food by Dos Coyotes.  For tickets and information contact: Diana, 530-792-

Grad Night 2014 Update - February 2014: Ticket Sales are strong....approximately 45% of Davis High
students have already purchased their tickets. There is a list of students who have purchased tickets at
front desk in the DHS office. If you don't  remember if you have purchased your ticket, please check the
list for your name. For those of you who have not yet purchased a ticket, please go to davisgradnight.org
and either purchase online or download the ticket form and mail in your check. The cost per ticket is $90
and covers everything - all Grad Night events, activities, food/drink and prizes!  Scholarship tickets are
available through the counseling office as well.  Don't delay, the cost goes up if you wait until June!
*             This is a ticketless event; once your registration has been processed, you will receive an email
confirmation and your name will be added to the list of attendees. If you have questions please email
tickets at davisgradnight.org and our ticket team will be happy to help.

*             Once you have purchased a ticket, please remember to submit your  Kindergarten picture for
the "Kinder Wall." We want every senior who attends to find their picture on the Kinder Wall. If you
don't have an official school picture, just submit an appropriate photo taken during your Kindergarten
year. For more information about where to submit or if there are questions about pictures, please go to
the Kindergarten photo link at davisgradnight.org.

What are the responsibilities of a High School Principal?  What about a School Board Representative?
Find out by picking up a Youth in Government application in C-4.  Applications are due Friday, February
28th in C-4.

Have you bought your yearbook yet?  Make sure to order your yearbook soon.  There are only a small
number left!  You can confirm your order by checking the list posted in the library's window.
