ATHLETICS:   Attn: Girls grade 9-12 interested in trying out for the freshman, jv or varsity girls basketball team! Tryouts begin Monday, Nov. 9th in the South gym. Must turn in sports paperwork and receive your athletic clearance card in order to try out. Tryout times for Nov 9: seniors & juniors 4-6pm, sophomores and freshman 6-8pm. JOB OPPORTUNITY:  The City of Davis is hiring JUNIOR BASKETBALL COACHES and OFFICIALS.   Pay ranges from $10.00 - $12.28 per hour. Students will work between 3-10 hours per week.  Coaches and officials will teach basic basketball fundamentals and skills for 3rd through 6th grade boys and girls basketball teams.  Come to the Career Center for more information and an application.

DHS Winter Athletes! Make sure to turn in your sports physical packets to the Athletics Office prior to the first day of conditioning or tryouts! You cannot participate without an athletic clearance card. Come by the Athletics Office during school hours.

Winter and Spring Athletes:  Baseline concussion testing is now available for sign ups.  Please visit the athletic web page.  Testing will be on November 5th at 4:00, 5:00 and 6:00 pm. TODAY:  Listen up, DHS!  Student Government is putting on the first ever Trivia Bowl!  Make your team of 4 and test your knowledge against other teams in a fierce competition.  Applications are available in N-1A and are due today, November 4th.

CABIN LEADERS are needed for North Davis Elementary School's trip to Walker Creek on January 4th - 8th.  Applications are available in the Career Center.  The deadline to apply is November 4th.

Hey Key Clubbers! It's Key Club Week! Come to our general meeting this Wednesday, 11/4 in Rom S-12 at lunch to learn about new, exciting projects and to grab some food! See you there!

Please join the AVID Community Club to celebrate the success of our first community service project and to pick the next one.  The meeting will take place in Ms. McInturf's room, N-1 at lunch on Wednesday.

ACADEMICS/CAREERS/OPPORTUNITIES: Davis FFA is collecting items for deployed service members.  If you have items such as personal care items or non-perishable snack foods, bring them to O-1A or the box in the Front Office.

CLUBS/EVENTS:  "Band Geeks" premiers this Friday!  Will the band geek get the cheerleader?  Who will lead the Beavers?  Come find out this Friday in the IPAB at 7:00 pm! It has pop music, sassy characters and lots of heart!  Performances are November 6th, 7th, 12th, 13th and 14th.  There is an afternoon performance on November 8th at 2:00 pm.  Tickets are $10 for students with ID.

Bonjour! It's French Club.   We meet on Tuesdays in O-4 with the open door.  You don't need to speak it, you don't have to be it!  Join us!

Are you interested in helping with the energy audit or helping with the DHS garden?  Come join the Environmental Club on Friday in S-10 at lunch.

Hey, hey, hey! Do you want to be as fast as Bruce Lee and as strong as Chuck Norris?  Come to the new Martial Arts Club Thursday, November 5th during lunch in the Wrestling room.  Learn to master the art of Taekwondo and Self-Defense. Hallo und Willkomman!  The DHS German Club is meeting at lunchtime Tuesdays in Ms. Hamrick's room, N-2.  If you are interested in watching German movies and eating German pastries, feel free to stop on by! There will be gummy bears...

DHS Ski/Snowboard Swap! Looking for great bargains on new/used ski and snowboard equipment and clothing? The Annual Ski and Snowboard Swap will be held on Sunday, November 8th from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm in the DHS Gym on Oak Avenue, north of 14th Street.  There will be new equipment and clothing from local ski shops and team members will offer ski and board waxing services.  If you have items to sell or donate, bring it Saturday, November 7 between 4:00 and 8:00 pm or before the swap begins on Sunday, November 8th from 7:30 to 8:30. Volunteer Opportunity:  Citizens Who Care for the Elderly need volunteers for their Saturday Club program.  Volunteers will shadow a client throughout the day and assist them with various activities.  Lunch is provided.  The program is held two Saturdays of the month from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Davis Senior Center.  Come to the Career Center for more information.

The Red Cross Club is planning for the first blood drive of the year which will take place, Monday, Nov. 9th in the south gym.  Giving blood takes approximately one hour from start to finish and is safe and easy.  To donate blood, you must be at least 16, weight at least 110 and be free from cold or flu symptoms for at least 48 hours.  If interested, please sign up on the quad at lunch this week or at the nurse's office by Friday, Nov. 6.  Walk-ins are accepted only if you are 18 or older.  For more information, see Ms. Youtsey, the school nurse.
