IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENTS: The City of Davis is hosting its annual Davis Day of Service for interested volunteers on Saturday, April 23rd from 8:00 am -12:00 pm.  Volunteers will help with projects that benefit schools, parks and the Davis Community.  The event starts with a Kick Off Pancake Breakfast from 8:00 am - 9:00 am at the Veterans Memorial Center.  The volunteers then work until noon.  Come to the Career Center for more information.

Are you interested in helping new students transition into high school?  The Link Crew is looking for helpful, positive role models who care about the DHS community.  If this sounds like you, be sure to pick up an application for the 2016-2017 Link Crew!  This applications are available in L-23 or the finance office.  If you missed our first informational meeting, don't worry because there is another one being held in L-23 at lunch on Tuesday, April 19.  Hope to see you there!

Seniors! There are still some local scholarships available for DHS students.  If you participated in Girl Scouts, played soccer, are of East Indian descent, are active in your school or community, have experienced adversity or have financial need and a 3.0 GPA, you may qualify for one or more of these scholarships!  Come to the Career Center this week to pick up an application.

Senior Athletes: If you have committed to playing a college sport next year, we would like to celebrate your accomplishments on April 12th at the signing day celebration ceremony in the quad at 12:15.  Parents are welcome!

Interested in trying out for the DHS Cheer Squad?  Mandatory Information Nights will be held on Tuesday, April 12th and Wednesday, April 13th in the DHS Library from 6:30-8:00 pm.  Attendance at one info night is required by all interested athletes and one parent/guardian.  This meeting will provide all the information for both sideline and competition squad! Please also visit our website dhscheer.org for more information and requirements for try outs.  Go Blue Devils!

Are you interested in trying out for the DSHS 2016-2017 Dance Team?  Mandatory Clinic will run April 25th -April 27th from 4-6pm with tryouts on Thursday, April 28th at 4pm.  The Dance Team will be hold a Student information meeting on Wednesday, April 13th during lunch in the DSHS Dance room and a Mandatory Student/Parent Information Night on Wednesday, April 13th from 6-7pm in the DSHS Dance Room.  This meeting will provide students and parents an opportunity to ask questions and obtain all paperwork necessary for tryouts. At least one parent must attend.

The 2016 Senior Ball is almost here! Seniors are all invited to experience the Starry Night on April 30, 2016 at the Sheraton Grand Hotel in Sacramento.  Doors open at 6:30.  Tickets will be on sale in the Finance Office during lunch April 11 to April 22 and 8:15 am to 8:45 am on Wednesday, April 20.  Tables seat 10-your group must buy tickets at the same time to be seated together.  See the Senior Ball Table Organizer, available in the Office and at davishighstudentgovernment.wordpress.com.   Seniors and their guests can purchase tickets; if your guest is not a DJUSD student, complete a Guest Pass and submit it to your Vice Principal for approval by April 20.  Dietary restrictions will be honored for dinner-contact Francis Avoce or Matthew Rowan if you have more questions.  More information is available at davishighstudentgovernment.wordpress.com. CSF Seniors: If you are graduating as an ACTIVE lifetime member, you are eligible to apply for our chapter Scholarship.  Applications are available in P-13.  Deadline for submission is Wednesday, April 27, 2016 at 1:00 pm.

Get ready for 'A Tribute to Tony Fields' - a night filled with catchy Broadway tunes and awesome choreography!  Numbers include songs from 'Wicked,' 'Rent,' and 'A Chorus Line!'  Performances are on April 22 and 23 at 7:00 pm in the IPAB.

If you are a Senior, (class of 2016) in CSF, come to Room P-13 to check your membership status.  Initial next to your name to confirm or talk to Mrs. O'Brien if you have questions or concerns.

ACADEMICS/CAREERS/OPPORTUNITIES/EVENTS:  Are you interested in a career as a Registered Nurse, Physical Therapy Assistant, Occupational Therapy Assistant, Vocational Nursing, Dental Assistant or Dental Hygienist?  If so, you should apply for the Sacramento City College Allied Health Learning Community program where you can earn an AS degree in just two and a half years and be prepared to transfer to a CSU.  Come to the Career Center for more information.

The Red Cross club is planning for the second blood drive of the year which will take place, Friday, April 15   in the south gym.  Giving blood takes approximately one hour from start to finish and is safe and easy.  To donate blood, you must be at least 16, weigh at least 110 pounds and be free from cold or flu symptoms for at least 48 hours.  Sign-ups begin on Monday April 4th on the quad at lunch or at the nurse's office and continue through Thursday, Apr. 14.  Walk-ins are accepted only if you are 18 or older.  For more information, see Ms. Youtsey, the school nurse.

A local Davis business is looking for students to participate in a t-shirt contest.  T-shirts should include the text "Find financial peace of mind" and have a cartoon of a piggy bank.  The winning designer will receive $50, a copy of the "MoneyMindful Video Kit" and a t-shirt! Come to the Career Center for more information.

Student Comedy Night is April 22nd from 6:00-8:00 pm, in the IPAB.  If you are interested in performing, pick up an application in N1-A and return it by April 15th to N1-A.  See you there!

Come see your nationally ranked Speech and Debate team at their showcase on April 12th!  The time is 7:00-9:00 pm and admission is $5.00 in the IPAB/Brunelle Theater.  Many English teachers are offering extra credit for attendance.

Attention Seniors! Spring break's over; graduation is almost here.  Don't miss Davis Grad Night, an all-night, over-the-top, alcohol/drug-free rite of passage on Friday, June 10.
