ACADEMICS:  If you would like to become a MAST tutor, applications will be open from 12/26 to 1/13/17.

AP exams are available for purchase in the Webstore now!  $98 per test.  Online and in-person sales: now until 2/28 @ https://BlueDevilOnlineStore.myschoolcentral.com.  In-Person: DHS lunch time only at the Finance Office outside window.  If you are in need of financial assistance, please contact your counselor.

Are you a Latino student wanting to earn a college degree?  If so, you should attend the annual Steps to College Fair to learn about college opportunities and financial aid available to Latino students. The event will take place on Saturday, February 4 from 8:00 - 3:00 at the Consulate General of Mexico in Sacramento.  Come to the Career Center for more information.

Are you interested in biology?  If so, you may want to take the USABO Open Exam in February.  The USABO Open Exam is a 50-minute multiple choice exam available to all high school students.  It focuses on animal and plant anatomy and physiology, cell biology. Genetics and evolution.  Students who qualify could represent the United States in international competition. Seniors: The senior class photo for the yearbook is Thursday, January 12th in the North Gym.  Please leave your 6th period at 11:50.  Picture order forms are available in your 2nd period class and in the office.  Bring these forms with a check for $18.00 made out to Lifetouch on Thursday.

OPPORTUNITIES/EVENTS/MISCELLANEOUS:  Hey, hey, hey! Turn in your Friendship Day invites on the Wednesday, after break! Friendship Day is this Friday!

Do you want to volunteer?  If so, Yolo County Supervisor Don Saylor needs volunteers to help set up his annual "Soup's On" community fundraiser from 3:30 - 5:00 on Thursday, January 26 at St. James Church.  Come to the Career Center for more information.

Come audition for "Standing on Ceremony, The Gay Marriage Plays" the DHS drama department's winter play.  It's an edgy new play that celebrates the gay community and highlights important issues.  Information meeting January 17 @ 4:00 and auditions are January 18th and 19th at 2:45 in P-11.

CLUBS:  Wanted: A few good chess players! North Davis Elementary -- just down the street from DSHS -- is starting a chess club and is looking for high school students to serve as assistant coaches. The Chess Club will meet on Wednesdays from 1:30-3:30, with actual chess beginning at 1:50. The "season" will last January 25th-end of March or so.
We have a main coach, just need some helpers to watch over games and give tips to the kids. The kids will be all ages up to 6th grade. If you're interested in helping to start this club, please contact North Davis parent Bobbi Avery at bobbiavery at gmail.com.
