Thompson today was able to attach an amendment to provide disaster assistance
for <st1:State w:st="on">California</st1:State> and <st1:State w:st="on"><st1:place
w:st="on">Oregon</st1:place></st1:State> fishers to the Science, State,
Justice and Commerce Appropriations Bill<font color=blue face=Arial><span
style='font-family:Arial;color:blue'>.</span></font> Thompson and members
of the <st1:State w:st="on">California</st1:State> and <st1:State w:st="on"><st1:place
w:st="on">Oregon</st1:place></st1:State> Congressional delegations offered the
amendment which will transfer $2 million in funding from the Department of
Commerce's administrative budget to NOAA Fisheries. The funding is meant
to be a placeholder for additional disaster assistance funding as the
appropriations bill moves through the Senate and then a conference
committee. <o:p></o:p></p>
