If you think the HJH paper scrip program is doing fine without you, please reconsider how important your participation is. We don't seem to have many families who order regularly this year and consequently aren't making even half as much money as Emerson does most months. Please plan to do your Nugget, Longs and Coop shopping using paper scrip this month. The next order deadline is Wed, March 5, 2:00 in the scrip box in the Holmes office. Order forms are available in the newsletter, online or you can call Wilda (758-9165) or Sue (753-8195) to make other arrangements to get your order and check to us. PLEASE READ TO YOUR CLASSES 1st AND 2nd PERIOD Dear Students, Since we are on the brink of war, we understand that many of you have differing perspectives and are searching for ways to express your views. We are also aware that you may have a need to discuss your concerns with others. The Holmes teachers and other staff are sensitive to these needs and will provide time for classroom discussion as the opportunity presents itself. The school staff will do our best to monitor the news and will provide both staff and students with current factual information as it becomes available to us. All school staff share a concern for the well being of our students. Therefore, in order to provide a safe and secure environment for everyone, it is important that we all maintain as normal a school routine as possible. All students are expected to be in class on time and to follow school rules. We have been made aware that some students may wish to stage a demonstration at school in the near future. It is possible that such a demonstration to support or protest government actions may be held at appropriate times, like before school, during lunch or after school. There are also several events planned in our community in which you may choose to participate. At Holmes Junior High, we hope that our students understand that the administration, teachers and other staff desire to support and encourage our students without consideration of any political positions or perspectives. However, students need to know that there are state codes that prohibit the disruption of school. Students who skip class or become disruptive at school will be assigned the appropriate consequences, which can range from detention for all time missed out of class, to suspension for participating or promoting a disruption of regular school activities. No one wants to punish anyone and we hope our students will use good judgment in making their choices during the coming days ahead. Students are encouraged to work with the teachers and office staff to express your feelings in appropriate ways and at appropriate times so that there is no need for any negative outcomes. ********************************************** Holmes Jr. High PTA http://www.dcn.davis.ca.us/~hjh From hjh@dcn.org Sat Mar 22 22:07:01 2003 From: hjh@dcn.org (hjh@dcn.org) Date: Sat Mar 22 22:07:01 2003 Subject: [HJHPTA] PTA Meeting and Measure S Discussion Message-ID: <000a01c2f102$3522d8e0$94631c43@d6j6x01> This is a multi-part message in MIME format. ------=_NextPart_000_0007_01C2F0BF.25A84640 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable REMINDER: PTA Meeting Thursday, March 27th at 7:00 pm in the Holmes Library All parents are welcome to attend!
